Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo

I had a few sample tubes of this product in my massive collection of hair products that I have collected over the past year and recently I have been trying to use up all of the little sample bottles I have. I really like Aveda products; when I go to the hairdressers they always use the Rosemary and Mint shampoo/conditioner on me. I am always impressed with Aveda products and my aunties are big fans of this brand too and this product is definitely up to Aveda's high standards.

- About the product and scent

I have a few 10ml sample bottles of this shampoo, so it is obviously not the full size which comes in a normal 250ml bottle. The scent of the rosemary and mint products is just gorgeous and this product is on a similar line - it has a herbal scent but it still remains fairly fresh. The scent of this shampoo is really nice and although it smells quite herbal (a toned down version of something you would find in Lush) it is quite a sophisticated scent and it smells like it belongs in an expensive salon.

- Using the product and results

I have used this product quite a few times and in my opinion and from my experience it is one of the best shampoos I have used (along with the Pantene Aqua Light Shampoo) mainly because it has a really smooth texture and it lathers so well. I dispense a small amount of this shampoo into my palms and I rub my palms together to get a even distribution of product on my hands and I lather the shampoo into my hair. I start with the roots of my hair, as that is where I get the most oil and or product build up, then I work down my hair to the midlengths and ends. This shampoo lathers up really well, it creates the same kind/amount of lather that I would get from a bubble bath! The lather is massive and it is scented like the shampoo in the bottle - herbal but still quite fresh. The scent is gorgeous and the lather is great and it does not take long to get a fantastic amount of lather in my hair - which means that I can wash my hair/scalp really well. Rinsing this shampoo and lather out of my hair does not take very long despite the large amount of lather - it probably takes five minutes which is quite fast considering how very long my hair is.

After this product has been rinsed out of my hair, my hair feels really clean (but not overly clean so much so that it feels dry). When my hair is still damp/wet I can still smell this shampoo slightly in my hair but then when my hair is dry the scent is very, very subtle and hardly noticeable. When my hair is fully dry I find that it is really well detangled, it is fairly manageable, it is not very scent at all unfortunately, it feels clean and it makes my hair feel light weight. The only downside as a result of this product, in my opinion, is that it does not help completely with frizz and flyaways and the scent does not stay in my hair at all when it is dry.

I have a few sample tubes of this product, so I do not have the full size but the full size bottle is 200ml and it can be purchased from lookfantastic.com for £14.05 (for 250ml). Also you can buy small 50ml travel size bottles of this shampoo (50ml bottles) from house of fraser for £4.40.

Positives

*Easy, quick and nice to use

*Does not really weigh my hair down
*Leaves my hair looking and feeling really clean, fresh and slightly hydrated
*It also leaves my hair smooth - but it does not help completely with frizz

Negatives

*Full size bottle is really quite expensive in my opinion, especially for me as I have very long hair and I go through shampoo really quite quickly
*The gorgeous scent does not stay in my hair at all when it has dried
