ghoti Playpens in General: ... got a playpen, and that was the day that my daughter learnt to pull herself up to standing from sitting. She spent the next couple of days practising, and then she was confident enough to do it anywhere. There s a lot of criticism of playpens as babysitters but sometimes, you just do need to hang the washing out or start cooking or even go to the loo without an audience, and somewhere safe to put the baby is e...

simbanewt Babyden Playpen
... bought the Babyden playpen when our boys became mobile- with twins a playpen seemed essential in order to get anything done, keeping the boys safe whilst they played. The Babyden is big enough to allow two babies to play alongside each other happily. We bought the playpen from Mothercare for £79.99, so not cheap but its very robust and stood up well to the pounding that two toddlers finding their feet can give it. The soft washable mat in the bottom makes it very comfortable, and by purchasing the tent to go over the top of the playpen (also from Mothercare, costing £39.99) we have extended its use. My sons, now three, still use the tent occasionally as a playhouse...

... remember when my son was taking his first steps; the first thing that we started thinking of was to get a playpen and a safety gate. he was almost 11 months then and it was disturbing for us to watch him trying to climb something too high for him and fall- I know its normal but as a mom, we just feel the pain a bit more, especially when it is the first baby or when it s new- after a months we just get used to it. So we started looking around for something cheaper on internet- we bumped into a polish site who sold the wooden playpens of different sizes. After extensive research, we bought the one with six side slats for around £35. We thought once our child walks a bit...

... play pen is some thing that I have never used on a regular basis. I do like my children to have the freedom to explore, so I never use stair gates on kitchen doors or to keep baby in one room, I only ever used them for top of stairs. I really don t like the image play pens and how I have seen people use them. The child is put in the play pen to play and to keep out the parents way and not interacted with. I do understand this is not the way every one uses them. I have used them my self for a short while whilst I was decorating a new house and completely agree with them as a safe place for baby while mum answers the door or jumps in the shower. In a form I do use a p...
