Safety 1st Sounds 'n Lights Activity Walker
by barbie84
I payed £45.99 for this walker for my second child.
I opted for this walker as i thought it would be ideal with it having toys built into the walker on the top tray so she could be kept entertained wholst in the walker and having them on a hinge so i could move them to the side to use the tray under neith was a great feature ... or so i thought, the reality of it was that the toys didnt realy keep her entertained for very long at all as she wasnt too impressed with how basic they were, there is some music played by the toys and lights which she enjoyed for awhile but she wasnt too impressed with the rest of it, she never had any interest in moving the beads around on the walker at all.
The idea behind there being two trays which i thought was great to start with wasnt too good either as the top tray doesnt move far enough away for it to be out of reach of the child or to fully expose the bottom tray and although my daughter only ever had snacks like crisps and biscuits in the walker they made a right mess and were hard to clean up as there was a over lap in the tray and the toys also got covered by mushed up food on her hands. On the plus side the seat area detaches very easily to be machine washed so this is easy enough to keep clean.
Another feature i thought was going to be great was the fact that it had 3 heaight adjustments on the walker so i thought this would be idea with my daughter having short legs for her age, i was wrong about this too as the adjustments seem to be tall, taller and even taller, to the point of my other daughter who is 16 months older couldnt actually touch the floor no the top height. By the time my daughters feet actually touched the floor enough in this walker on the lowest seting she was already 11 months old and quite capable of crawling where she wanted to get and pulling her self up the furniture and walking around the room holding on so its only real use was out side in the garden for her.
An even worse point to this walker for anyone with thick or long piled carpet is that the wheels are very small so will not move on this style of carpet at all, we had laminate flooring at the time which was fine for us but at my mothers house the walker wouldnt move at all.
The walker does fold down for staorage but you are still going to have to have a large space to store it as the back of the seat in the walker is so high you still need a 2 foot gap to store it in at least.
As you can see from above i wasnt too impressed with this walker at all, Read the complete review |

Safety 1st Play-dee Bug
by MoominsMum
Priced between £45 and £50, this is a little expensive, but from my daughters reaction, well worth the money spent! She is now 8 months old and has been enjoying ot for 4 months so far. The Play-dee-bug is suitable for children from as soon as they are able to sit with support. The soft fabric seat - easy to remove for washing - ... has 4 positions to allow for growth of legs, and the lowest position hugs a smaller baby quite nicely in the seat. It is also fully rotatable, but a small baby cannot do this themselves. The main body is of rigid plastic construction, easy to put together and sturdy once constructed. The front legs are rigid but the back ones are springy, allowing your baby to bounce. Around the Play-dee-bug are a number of toys. There is a twirling sunflower with noisy beads in, which my daughter especially liked right from the start. Next is a clear wheel with an inner wheel containing pictures of butterflies, which spins around. On the front, the antennae are great to pull on, and are nicely textured, as well as the balls on the end containing beads in one and a caged object in the other which rattle. My daughter holds onto these while 'running' and ' (it doesn't go anywhere) and thoroughly enjoys it! On the other side is the "large snack tray". I don't think it is especially large, just large enough for a trainer cup. Also on this tray is a multi-beaded and textured worm which slides along a track down through a hole to under the tray. The Play-dee-bug provides a variety of textures motions and noises to amuse a baby for a reasonable period of time. Even so, I do feel that perhaps a little more variety could have been included. Having said that, it is pretty expensive, but is worth the money in my opinion for the time it can be used to sit a baby in so you know they won't fall over/crawl away and are amused at the same time. However, it is a bit bulky if
you have a small room. We recently moved into a house with a far smaller living room than we had and it is a little in the way at times. It's probably nearly a metre long, and about half as wide. Also about half a metre tall. By Safety 1st, I bought this with confidence and it has not failed me yet. I bought mine from the Look Again catalogue, but have also seen it in a couple of independant toy shops.
