“ Brand: Chicco / Type: Walker „
Firstly i have to say that we have the Chico UFO walker but the seat pattern is different to the one in the picture, ours has different coloured stripes on it and the colour of the plastic is green instead of orange, apart from this it is the same walker.
We received this from a friend second hand, if it had not been for this personally i wouldn't have bought one myself because i was not very keen on them and it's another chunky thing to store. However having said that it has turned out to be a great thing my daughter can play in and she loves it which is the main thing.
This walker has 4 wheels, one on each corner, it can collapse down so is a lot thinner and easier to store, ours fits down the side of the sofa. It has 3 different heights it can be set at and the lever locked into place on each one depending on the height of your baby. The back of the seat is very straight to offer good back support if the child sits up straight, which our daughter doesn't yet do as she likes to lean forwards and try and look over the side!
On the front tray bit is the main activity console, there is an imitation steering wheel which squeaks when pressed and can be turned side to side. There is a key shaped like a bear which can be twisted which makes a noise. Four coloured buttons, red, yellow, green and blue which each play a different 'space' tune and a lever which when pulled towards baby plays a tune. Whenever a tune is played there are small lights which flash different colours on the main console, one is directly in front of baby in the blue dashboard. There are 2 reflector lights on the front of the console which do not light up but which my daughter leans over to see as i think she thinks they should and gets quite fascinated with them!
This is suitable from 6 months and advise is not to leave babies in them for longer than about 20 minutes at a time as when they are in them they lean forwards and do not have a good posture. Our daughter has been using this since about 6.5 months on and off, at first she could not move it about as only tiptoes could touch the floor and she wasn't strong enough to move it on carpet. Now at 9 months and looking like she will be more of a walker than a crawler she loves it and can move about all over the lounge carpet with ease. She will sometimes go in it a couple of times a day for no more than 20minutes and enjoys this time.
There is nothing wrong with this walker and i think it is a good addition as something different to play with and gives more independence on the babies feet and movement, i do not think i would want to spend £60 on a new one some of them are but second hand has been fine as i do not think they will be using it for that long really.
My 7 month old daughter is desperate to get on the move but isn't able to yet, so recently, after being given this babywalker by a friend whose children are past the baby stage our little girl is now starting to find her feet....and loving it!!
The babywalker we were passed on by our friend was this Chicco UFO baby walker, which is slightly older stock but can still be picked up widely on the likes of ebay. My walker has slightly different colours from that shown in the picture above, since the fabric of the seat in my babywalker is navy with yellow starts.
There are some great advantages of this product. Firstly, it has three different height settings, meaning it has a good duration, from the very early days to almost walking. In fact, according to information I have found online (my friend didn't have the original packaging) this babywalker is actually suitable for children from 5 months old, and although my friend gave this to me quite a few months ago, we only started putting our daughter into it when she was 6 months turning 7 months old.
The seat for baby to sit in seems to be very comfortable and padded and is also made from washable fabric, which is very useful when baby possibly brings up a mouthful. We have this babywalker on its lowest setting at the moment and my daughters feet just about touch the ground and she can sit very comfortably and for a good length of time in the seat. SHe seems very well supported.
To keep baby entertained, there is a removable musical tray. This tray has a variety of activities for baby (or mummy still!) to push. THere are four musical buttons that when pressed play out short tunes all with an alien/space theme. There is also a steering wheel with a pressable button for baby to press as a horn. There is also a key that can be turned round and round, as well as a joystick that when moved up and down plays more music. When buttons are pressed etc lights flash on and off and my little girl absolutely loves watching everything light up. These lights and sounds can be turned on/off at the back of the tray which can be taken off and played with independently. I have never done so and just always kept it on the babywalker.
The other advantage of this product is that for ease of storage or transport this babywalker can be folded down until it is flat, which I have to admit is brilliant when I take it with me to the grandparents at weekends, and let my daughter have fun with it other than at our home.
Within a couple of weeks of being in this babywalker, my daughter very quickly got the hang of what to do. THere is no doubt that she finds it much more difficult to move in this babywalker on carpeted floors, but on tiled/wooden floors she buzzes around - so much so that she could easily run over your feet! I find that this is a very moveable babywalker. We were at a friends house recently, and my daughter found it very difficult to move in their baby's babywalker, so I think this is a well made product, that is sturdy but perfect for helping baby get used to finding their feet and hopefully help them when they move to walking alone. I think the musical tray is a great accessory and is certainly a big hit with my daughter, it keeps her entertained when she begins to tire or just the walking part, and she is starting to hit some of the buttons herself to make the sounds. The space related tunes that play out are catchy and cute, and add to the product!
