Disadvantages: Takes up a lot of floor space
* The Product *
The Little Blossom Farm sit me up cosy is from the Early Learning Centre, which I'm sure needs no introduction from me here.
The cosy is designed to grow with your child from birth up until 12 months.
* The Price *
Direct from the Early Learning Centre, this costs £30.00, however, I'm sure it could be bought for cheaper from the likes of ebay or amazon.
* Uses *
From birth, the cosy can be used as a nest. There are inflatable "cushions" which once blown up, fit inside the covers to make the nest. There is a fleece cover to make the base of the nest and there are four soft toys that stick around the edges with velcro (a chicken, a cow, a sheep and a mirror).
When baby is old enough to sit with support, the nest can be changed so that baby can sit on the fleece mat and the rest is stacked up behind and acts as a support.
* My Opinion *
I used to use this as a nest all the time for my daughter when she was a baby. It gives a bit more freedom than a bouncy chair, but is a bit more restricting than a baby gym. I found this great, as my daughter would get bored in her chair, so I would put her in the nest while I got on and made lunch or whatever needed done. The sides of the nest are raised, so baby can't roll over, but is able to pull themselves up and reach for the toys.
My daughter loved being in her nest and spent so much time in there. I'd just fill it with toys and she'd play in it for agse.
I personally never used it as a support when my daughter got bigger as she never really needed it.
The nest is supposed to be for up to 12 months. However, I have found that my daughter uses it more now at 14 months than she did between 6 and 12 months. She likes to grab a toy or a book and sit in there to play or read.
The nest is very light weight, as the main parts are inflatable. The soft fleece makes it very comfortable and cosy for baby.
The only downside to this toy is that it takes up a lot of space. It is quite big and bulky, but you would need a LOT of puff to deflate and re-inflate as and when required. When not in use, I would use it to store my daughters other toys to save a bit of space, but that just meant that I had to take them all back out again when we needed it, so still not an ideal situation. This is the reason I have rated this as 4 stars and not 5.
I would definitely recommend this for a young baby, but would give it a miss if your child has alredy reached the sitting stage
Summary: A great play area for baby

- 16/11/08 Umm, I was thinking about buying one of these for my son but never got around to it. I'll keep my eyes open for a second hand one when baby number two comes along. Thanks for such a good review. |
