      Basic ride-on

***ELC easy wheels ride - on***

I have a tendency to impulse buy on an occasion. This ride-on was one of those buys but I must say it was my other half that suggested buying it for our daughter few months ago when she was 14 months old. I wanted to pop in to Early Learning Centre to get something else, when my husband spotted this ride on reduced from £25 to £20. Our daughter (Sofia) always loved ride-ons, she always plays with them when we were visit friends so we knew she would love it and on the top of this, my husband thought price was ok so we made a purchase. In addition Early Learning Centre is company I trust with very good reputation so I was happy to purchase this product.

This ride-on is very basic. It comes in the box and practically no major assembly is required. Box advises that adult assembly is required, this being slotting the black handle into the place which only takes few seconds literally. Ride on has both sets of wheels already attached to it. It has two sets of wheels, front two are castor wheels that can turn 360 degrees supposedly making it easier for toddler to move any direction (well this is advertised, this was not a case when Sofia used it but I will get to it later). It is made of red thick moulded plastic. Ride-on comes complete with the black stickers which are included in the box for you to stick on it. I have made mine look as ladybird as to me it made sense since the ride is supposed to be ladybird.
Ladybird ride-on also has handy storage underneath the seat. Storage is not massive but can fit few things in it.

It is worth mentioning that this ride-on is of very good quality. When I first opened the box, I thought it won't last very long as it didnt look very sturdy, however I was wrong. It has been smashed and crashed around without any major damage such as cracks (apart from couple of scratches).

      ***Using the ride-on***
Sofia loved this ride-on ever since we took it out of the box and couldn't wait to get on it. We have assembled the handle promptly and I have put stickers on with speed of light so she could try it on. Only one major problem we had with it - Sofia was not able to move it forward!!! We have brought it mainly to the use indoors however we have carpets in the house it was impossible to move it forward on the carpet thanks to the front castor wheels. As they can move any direction they would make it impossible to move on the carpet and therefore Sofia has been only moving backwards. Some of Sofia's friends tried this ride-on also being unable to move it forward.

I can only assume that this will be a different story when using it on the wooden flooring or tiles. I should also mention that I haven't seen any words of advice about not being able to use this ride-on on the carpet. Inability of moving it forward soon became frustrating for Sofia; yet, it didn't stop her trying to move it forward another time. She has used the storage under the seat to transport some of her toys from room to room as part of her play.

Since this ride-on would not move forward on the carpet, I wanted to try it in the garden. First of all, we tried it on the grass. The same scenario applied as she has struggled to move if forward. So then we moved onto the pavement, which actually was much better in terms of getting it moving forward however front wheels would often get stuck and again making it unable to move forward. Our garden patio is not smooth however in my opinion this should not stand in the way as this toy is aimed for outdoor use as well as indoors.

      ***Some general information***
This ride-on is recommended to use from 12 months onwards. It is not advised to use for children above 3 years old, maximum weight when using this ride on is 20kg. Ride-on is very lightweight, Sofia has been able to lift it with one hand and move it with no problems.

This ride-on is available from Early Learning Centre (on-line or in store) or also from Mothercare website (not sure about the actual store). Both Mothercare and ELC are selling it currently for £20 on sale.

      ***Would I recommend?***
Not really if you have carpets in your house, unless you going to use it outside only! Also there are no additional features such as extra buttons to press that make noises. This probably would not have been a problem should if this ride-on was able to be used on the carpets.

This has been an impulse buy (I blame my husband) and if I would research properly I would probably not have brought it as there are other ride-ons available with added features for similar price which I would have chosen instead. I have since purchased another ride (without castor wheels) which is perfect for use at the carpet.

Quite disappointed with this 2/5 stars.
