Advantages: They settle a colicy baby!!!! Need I say more?
Disadvantages: Fairly big.
I bought the Fisher Price Aquarium Cardle Swing when I was pregnant with my first son and it was one of my best purchases!
The swing itself consists of a bulky white plastic bucket seat which is covered with a blue material. The seat has a play tray, but for the age of child the seat is designed for, the play tray really doesn't serve much purpose!
The seat is suspended from a metal frame, with a mobile and light display above the seat.
The swing itself is designed for babies from birth to around 9ish months but it depends on the size of the baby.
The swing is motorised and has different functions - you can have the chair swinging alone, with lights, with the mobile, or with sounds, or a combination of all of these.
The swing has an aquarium theme so the mobile and lights etc are all fish and undersea creatures which are bright and colourful and really engaging to the child. The music that plays is the usual Fisher Price music - bright and twangy and you find yourself humming it later in the day!
My son suffered with colic and at times nothing I did would make him stop crying - until we put him in the cradle swing. The seat can either move front to back, or you turn it and it will then swing side to side. He preferred it swinging front to back and it really calmed him down at times when nothing else would.
The only downside to this item is that it is quite big and bulky so not really suitable for small houses/flats, but for anybody who has the space I would say it is invaluable.
Summary: A must have if you have the space
