This Fisher Price Musical Lights 'n' Sounds Gym is wonderful.
It is made of sturdy plastic in comes to you in approximately 12 pieces which just need to be fited together. At first I was quite scared when I pulled it out of the box and so many pieces fell out but even I could put it together without the need of any specialst tools - so it must be easy to assemble!!!
Batteries were included with the set I purchased (although a friend also purchased one and hers had no batteries included) but I found that these did not last very long at all and needed changing quite quickly.
I purchased this for a toddler group that I run and the babies love it. The tunes it plays are lovely and not "tinny" sounding like some other toys around and the lights really capture the little ones attention. The spinning activities at each side of the plastic arch are also not only a hit with the babies lying underneath but also the older toddlers who attend.
The good thing about this gym is that two babies can easily fit underneath if wanted and still have lots of room to play and kick about.
For such a simple idea this gym really will keep your baby happy, amused and entertained for ages.
My husband purchased this when the twins were a week old. We could lay both of them under it on their backs (they both fit under it together at that time. They loved the flashing lights even at such a young age it caught their attention. It is shaped as a bridge that goes over the baby. The center is white made of hard plastic. This is the piece that plays the music and has the flashing lights. Hanging from underside of this piece are three plastic toys. There is a red star with a little circle attached to the bottom. A blue moon with two little stars attached to the bottom of the moon. Finally a yellow and orange sun with a small square attached to the bottom of that. They are sensitive to motion when the unit is turned on moving any of those shapes will cause it to start playing. There are four bright lights (red, green, yellow and blue) alternating with the dangling shapes. The lights blink in time to the music playing. The sides are adjustable in height. One side is blue with a bar going across with a unbreakable mirror and shapes attached that spin. The other side is red with the same bar but has two discs that spin. The unit can be set to play continuously, play one song each time one of the hanging shapes is moved or the off position. We would use the long playing mode when the babies were young. Once they started moving and reaching the hanging shape we set it to the one song at a time mode. When they sat on their own we raised it to the highest height and they would bat at the shapes. They also would try to pull themselves up on it which would cause it to tip over as it was not made to be use this way. It helps teaches hand-eye coordination and teaches them that if they hit it the cause the music to come on. all the songs are the usual child songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Baa Baa black sheep. It plays 10 or 12 different songs. It takes three "C" size batteries which last long. I never had to repl
ace them and we used it for just under a year. The toy is sturdy and is now being used by my sisters daughter. It is also easy to clean you can just wipe it with a rag. I recommend this toy since it will entertain your child as they grow. Then be passed on to family members or sold at a yard sale.
My Son was given this Fisher Price gym for Christmas when he was about 8 weeks old and he took to it straight away. It has four different shapes suspended below four different coloured lights. When the shapes are hit by the baby, the lights flash in a pattern in time to one of a few tunes/nursery rhymes that are played. It is pretty hard for a younger baby to hit the shapes hard enough to make the tunes/lights play, Ben took a few weeks to get the hang of it. On the side supports of the gym are another two activites, on one side are a few shapes that spin around, and on the other side is a mirror which can be rotated, Ben liked the mirror more than the shapes for a long time! The gym's supports can be extended as the baby gets older so that you can get maximum use out of it.We used it until Ben was about 9 months old, as he started to pull himself up on it, which made it dnagerous.
I brought this today for my 15wks old daughter lucy and its fantastic. It comes in 13 pieces and is very easy to assemble. It takes 3 Rx14+ rechargable batteries or LR14 alkiline batteries, some came with mine but but some as they wont last long.It has full instructions in english, french, german, etc. It has 4 functions.you can have the music off, mustic on but activated when toys are touched ,music playing all the time or for toddlers it converts into a piano on a stand. After I assembled it I put Lucy undernealth it in her bouncy chair so she could kick the hanging toys she was not all that sure when the music started and cried at it.But after she had a naps she started laughting and cooing at all the lights and sounds.I even managed to eat my dinner without her shouting at me! She stayed underneath it for about hlf an hour before her feed then I laid her underneath it flat on the floor and she was facinated with all the lights and the music. She did get tired after a while but I thought it was good and its a good idea that it converts into a piano for a toddler.MY eldest daughter thought It was good too and she was showing lucy what to do. Bless. I would recommend this,as its great for amusing babies and it can be used for toddlers upto 3 or 4 yrs old.Defiently worth the money! Its from birth -3years.
The Fisher Price Sparkling Symphony Gym is a perfect present for children from birth onwards. I bought one for my little Grandson who is six months old, my daughter says he loves it to bits and spends many happy hours playing with it. It features four classical songs and four nursery tunes, plus many flashing lights. All these have to be activated by the child, the child has to hit the objects which dangle and it starts the music to play and the lights to. My Grandson is completely fascinated with it he lies there gurgling away for ages. When the child gets older it can be converted into a toddler's activity centre, and their first keyboard. At thirty five pound's I think it is very good value for money, and best of all it keeps children happy so you can have a break.
My daughter was bought the Fisher price light and sound gym not long after she was born and its still going strong, shes now 2 years old!! It plays quite a few different tunes and there are three different settings. your child can play without the lights and music, you can set it so that a new tune plays every time a shape is hit or you can have it on continuous play. When we first got it Bethany was very overwhelmed of it and wasn't very keen, but once she found her feet, she had a wonderful time kicking and hitting it. She loved the lights and sounds, and although shes too big to lie under it now, she cries everytime I try to put it away! I would recommend this toy for any baby that like to see a result from its actions. I think it is most suitable from around three months, and it doesn't loose its appeal even when they are sitting and walking. This is useful for any parent that also has a thousand and one things to do as well as look after baby!
This gym is a must have! I have used other gyms in the past, but was lent this gym by a friend. The gym plays several tunes, which last about 5 mins in total, and whilst playing the tunes there are four lights which light up in different sequences. As the baby is older they can set the tunes going themselfs by batting the hanging toys with thier hands, this however can be quite hard to do (you need to hit it quite hard, in just the right spot). The gym extends taller as the child grows. I would recommend leaving this gym untill you baby is at least a few weeks old, as it can overwhelm them at first. My daughter loves this gym and is happy to lay under it for up to half an hour (leaving you time to have a cuppa!)
I was lucky enough to have been give a Fisher Price Lights n' Sound gyms for christmas, and it has been a life saver. It has many great features, such as flashing colourful lights, many different tunes with different settings (either continually or plays only one song.)different coloured objects hanging from the centre bar,and my daughters favourite bit the mirror which she will play with for hours on end. You can adjust the height of the gym, so as you child grows you can keep raising it.I recomend this to any parent as it keeps your child amused for hours.
I bought the Fisher Price Music and lights baby gym from a car boot sale for £5 and took it home washed it in boiling water and it came up a treat. It sells in the shops for £25 - £30 so it was a bargain. But if I'd of known what fun my daughter would've had with it I wouldn't hesitate in paying the full price for it. It plays eight different tunes and has flashing lights in time with the music which my daughter loves. It has a mirror at the side and if your child is anything like mine spends much of her time gazing at herself! There are also three spinning toys on the other side. The bits that hand down are removable which is good for washing as they do get dusty. She has loved this from day one and still loves it at 9 months. I would recommend this baby gym to anyone.
There are many activity gyms on the market and this is by far one of the best due to the many features it has. Not only does it come with three mobiles with detachable toys, but also has coloured, flashing lights, toys on the 2 bottom side bars that spin around and it plays melodies as well. My son is 8 months old and adores it - especially the large, rotatable mirror which guarantees squeals of laughter. I especially like the fact that it has grown with him since it can be used by a baby lying down that will bat at the mobiles and watch the lights. As he has grown, he is now able to sit and grab hold of the mobiles (excellent teethers by the way!) and also reach down for the toys at the bottom. i would therefore rate this product excellent value for money since it can be used for a long time. i would say though that I think it could have been made a little sturdier since my son is now trying to pull himself up with it and it can be a bit unsteady. However, it may be that the manufacturers didn't have this in mind when they designed it!
MY son is 7 months old and loves this toy! I had been looking for a decent gym to buy for at my Mum's house for when my son is there and I was finding it difficult to find one that would be entertaining , long lasting and not too expensive and then, one day while I looked on the market, they had one of these priced up for just £7.50!! The RRP I believe is about £30 and I couldn't resist getting it. I has 3 attached mobile bits with various spinnings toys etc, and it also has a bit mirror and some moveable toys on the base of it for baby to play with when laid on the floor. It has 2 height settings which is good for either in a baby chair or on the floor and there are 4 different coloured lights on the underside of the top rung as well as about 8 nursery tunes that it plays. You can have the music on constantly, off or have it only play when the toys are moved, that's another BIG bonus. I do recommend that you buy a decent brand of batteries though as a "hands-on" child can quickly wear out the cheaper ones! You and your baby will love it!
We bought this for our daughter when she was only 4 weeks old and it has been in constant use everyday since and she is now 8 months. When she was very little she used to look at it and follow the lights and because there are about 20 different tunes and 20 different light cominations she would spend ages looking at it. When she progressed to arm movements she quickly learnt to swipe the toys and start the music and lights again. I believe it helped her develop her grasping movment very quickly and helped her to learn how to reach for things. Now she is crawling it is still in use everyday as it has a mirror on the side bar and she loves looking into it . The only down side is the mirror isn't a true mirroe its just shiney plastic and the images are very distorted. It is also very expensive but i can justify the price by saying it is an extreamly usefu; and fun learning aid.
An activity gym that plays 8 musical tunes with flashing lights. Can be activated by both mother and baby with continuous play for 11 minutes. Adjustable height.
