I bought this toy ready for my newborn as I wanted to have something that I could sit him in so he wouldn't be stuck in his basket all day and this was perfect! The seating area is nice and soft with bright colours and the chair has options of either soothing music or songs. It also has lights which change colours. My baby seemed really comfy in the chair and he was secure enough that I could leave him in the chair whilst doing some housework. The vibrating mode seemed to make him sleepy and he seemed to find it relaxing and soothing.
The cover is easily removable which is great for easy cleaning. And the bar can be removed if you wish to use it as a traditional bouncer or for ease of getting baby in and out.
My only criticism of this bouncer is that when the baby is small they cannot reach the two dangling toys, my child did get frustrated for a while trying to reach them.
If I have any more children I will definately use this bouncer again and would recommend it. It keep my child amused for hours and was a god send when he was little to keep him entertained. I wish it was strong enough to support him know as he still loved sitting in it and watching the fish when he was the max weight.
The fisher price aquarium bouncer has been an absolute life saver since the day my baby daughter was born. Now, three months on, I really don't think we could live without it!!
Although my husband and I have been lucky as our daughter is such a good baby, who rarely cries (unless, of course, when she is hungry), the bouncer has been extremely useful.
We actually purchased it before she was born on a trip to our local 'Kiddicare' store. We were lucky because it only cost us about £34.00 and I believe they cost more than this from other shops. It was money well spent.
It was mainly my husband's choice, as there were lots of other bouncers to choose from. I'm not sure it was particularly my first choice, and I'm not sure why my husband chose it, although he does have a love for fish and has a tropical fish tank in the house. (We also have an outdoor pond, equipped with fish now, but that's another story!!)
The aquarium bouncer, as the name suggests, has an aquatic theme. The canvas seating has a blue background and consists of colourful, friendly looking characters including fish, starfish and whales.
The seat has a vibrating function, which I found to be very useful in the early weeks, as the vibrations helped to soothe my baby to sleep.
The bouncer has a detatchable toy bar, which consists of:
** a hanging seahorse and fish, which baby can pull or kick (with removable teething rings)
** a screen with water, bubbles, lights, kissing fish and a twirling star
** Volume switch (2 levels)
** Mode switch (3 levels - off, continuous sound or music, baby activated music / sounds when baby bats hanging toys)
** Sound settings button (choose from: lullabies, ocean waves, summer rain, babbling brook or no sound)
The toy bar will automatically turn off after 10 minutes, but this can easily be re-activated. The sounds / music will continue if the baby is using the baby activated mode, unless the baby has not moved either toy for at least 10 minutes.
There are straps and a restraint to keep your baby secure.
The bouncer is not assembled. It is easy to put together. I managed to do this whilst I was 8 months pregnant without anyone else's help. The cover is removeable, so it can be washed. I've tended to place a muslin square over the back of the seat, so the canvas has kept nice and clean.
I can honestly say that my baby absolutely adores this bouncer and I have to admit that it was a fantastic choice. She is mesmerised by the screen and she loves watching the kissing fish and twirling star for ages. The novelty, three months on, has still not worn off.
The lullabies music selection is the best to listen to and this tends to be the option that my baby listens to the most.
The calming vibrations were more useful in the early weeks of her life, but they are a useful tool if she is a little grizzly and they tend to calm her down (unless, of course, when she is hungry!!)
Now she is older and her feet are longer, we use the baby activated mode more and she gets really excited when she makes the sounds work herself. I have found that the hanging toys are useful to hang other toys from to give my baby even more interest and motivation. She really enjoys grabbing these extra toys and they are a useful device in moving the hanging toys and activating those sounds.
Although the bouncer helps to keep my baby amused, it is also comfortable for her to sleep in and she will often doze off to the sound of the bubbles and the music.
The bouncer is also suitable for smaller babies, although they can be more involved with it as they get older. My daughter was only 5lbs 14 oz, but I felt totally confident in putting her into the bouncer when she was so little (although she didn't fill much of it!!)
The only two criticisms I have of the bouncer are:
1) It takes 4 size 'D' batteries, which can become expensive to replace (we are on the third set)
2) The motor operating the bubbles is quite noisy, especially if you use the bouncer with no sound
Apart from that, however, I have been very pleased with the aquarium bouncer. We are even looking into buying a cot toy in the same series.
I think if it ever breaks, we will have to invest in another one, or else we will have a very unhappy girl!!
Heres a chair that soothes baby with the wonders of aquatic sights and ocean sounds! The Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Bouncer features four selections of music & sounds: lullabies, ocean waves, summer rain and babbling brook. While in the bouncer,
