“ Brand: Fisher Price / Type: Activity Gyms „
I bought this when my son was a baby and still use it for children that I look after now.
It is by Fisher Price and I can't remember how much it was a few years ago but it currently retails for £39.99.
It is a baby gym that has an underwater theme. It comes with a playmat for your baby to lie on and is suitable from birth.
The gym is made of a solid plastic and the main colours are white, yellow and blue. It sits over your baby and has a circular shape in the centre on the frame. This is filled with glittery water and has fish inside. When the gym is switched on the circle rotate and the fish swim round.
There are also 4 hanging toys for your baby to kick or grab. There is 2 fish which have bells and rattles inside them, a lobster which has spinner on his claws and there is a teether on the side. All of the toys are removable and can be attached to different parts of the frame. This is ideal if your baby is younger as you can attach them all towards the bottom so they can reach.
The gym is motion activitated and when baby kicks or grabs one of the objects the gym lights up, music starts playing and the wheel starts to spin. There are 2 volume levels and the gym plays 5 different tunes. It also makes underwater splashing sounds. If your baby isn't strong enough to activate the sounds then you can push the button at the side of the frame to make it all start and it will play for 5 minutes.
When your baby is old enough to sit up on their own you can adjust the frame. There are 2 buttons to push to make the frame go down so it is about 8 inches off the floor. The frame then becomes like the front of a boat and the circle becomes a steering wheel.
The gym also comes with a play mat which is dark blue and is covered with starfish. The cover comes off so it can be machine washed, but it is quite thin so we used to put an extra blanket down on top of it just to give it extra padding.
My son loved this gym, the wheel was slightly tilted so he was easily able to see it when he was lying down and he used to love watching the fish swim.
I loved the fact that the hanging toys were movable, this really helped to keep my son interested and as he grew stronger we would move them further away to encourage him to move around more.
The frame takes 3 x C batteries and they lasted a long time, I think we have only had to change them 2 or 3 times in all the years we have had it.
This is a great toy for little babies, my son grew out of it after about a year but he had a lot of use out of it.
A few weeks after our son was born my mother in law had a bit of a clear out and came across this fisher price baby boat gym and asked if we would like it as it had only been used twice by her grand daughter as she did not like it so we though we may as well take it and see if our son liked it which he did. He would lay on the boat for ages without getting restless or bored as there were several activities to keep him occupied.
The boat has an arch which can either be upright when baby is lying down or when they are able to sit up by themselves the arch can be move down so that they can steer the boat. On the arch there are two fish one which rattles and the other makes a jingle sound and both dangle down so your child can hit or catch them. My son always loved catching them n trying to pull them out but he never managed until he was a little older and nearly able to sit up by himself as they are quite stiff for baby's to pull out. The steering wheel which is also on the arch lights up when turned on and rotates therefore making the fish, glitter and water splash around inside the wheel. The boat plays five different tunes and three aquatic sounds which my son loved and would make sure they played continuously. When your baby lies down on the boat to either side of them is a lobster and fish teether which can be removed and easily put back on.
The boat can be set to be activated when your child knocks a fish or makes the boat rock or it can be set to play continuously for 5 minutes. The mat on which your child lies can be removed to be washed and placed back on with ease. It requires 3 x C batteries which are not included so its a good idea to purchase them when getting the boat. I think this is a great buy and I am so glad that we took it when offered as my sons lay on it ever day catching the fish and hitting the lobster and when he was fully able to sit up by himself we simply moved the arch down and he would pretend he was the captain of the ship catching all the fishes and throwing them back into the sea.
I bought this Fisher Price aquarium baby gym whilst pregnant as i thought it looked brilliant! I was not let down by this product when my Daughter was born and she loved being in it from about 4 weeks. This baby gym is suitable from birth but i found it to be more useful when my Daughter started to become more alert.
The baby gym is in the shape of a boat with a soft, cushioned lining for baby to lie on (which can be removed with a bit of force, for washing). This gym has 4 hanging toys which baby can reach whilst lying down and the centre toy is in the shape of a wheel and is water filled with fish shapes and glitter inside. This baby gym also rocks when baby is lay on it and so triggers the music button, The music played is very soothing and has ocean type tunes. Whilst the music plays, the wheel spins and so on.
This baby gym can also be converted for when your baby gets a bit older and the toy holding bar moves backwards so baby can sit up and steer the boat.
I bought this from Argos for £39.99 but I'm not sure if it can be bought cheaper than that now as it was 2 years ago.
This baby gym is well worth the money and gave my Daughter and now my Son, hours of fun.
I would recommend this as an ideal Christmas present for any babies in the family!
I purchased my Fisher price ocean wonders rockin aquarium baby gym from argos for £39.99,suitable from birth, the gym itself has 4 hanging toys, and a aquarium with a fishy in in the middle, the gym itself lights up and plays 5 tunes and also underwater sounds, these can be set to a 5 minute continuous play to keep baby busy, when your baby moves or reaches for the hanging toys the base slowly rocks back and forward like a mini boat, can also be used once baby can sit up the toy bar can be moved down and the fishy aquaruim in the middle becomes a little steering wheel for baby to pretend to drive the boat.
WHAT I THOUGHT
My daughter loved this baby gym and still sits in it now and shes 9 months, the hanging toys can also be used as baby teethers and my daughter likes to munch on these, it states that the baby gym can be used from birth but i found the base quite hard and used to lay a folded blanket on there first before i would lay my daughter on to it,its a good baby gym and will give months of fun,the only down side was that it didnt come with batteries included and you go through quite alot.
Baby bajiya rates the Aquarium Gym as first class! The gym itself is very well built with a sturdy base and comfortable mat for the little ones to lie on. It also has some very stimulating toys which can be utilised as they get older. The musical wheel is the centre piece and for the very young it is the main focus point with flashing lights and moving tropical fish. The arch also securely tips back and at four months (sitting with some aid) baby bajiya now uses this like the steering wheel of a boat. Around the gym are detachable soft fish which can be manually moved on bendable plastic arms. There is also baby bajiya's personal favourite the bright red lobster which can be spun to attract attention. Unbeknown to me when I purchased the gym was that the if it is left on the musical wheel will activate to stimulus, and a good kick or knock will set off noises and music. Overall, a safe, stimulating and reasonably priced activity gym.
When I was pregnant I looked around at a lot of different baby gyms. There is a huge choice but I thought that the fisher price wonder aquarium looked much more stimulating than any other I had seen.
It is currently available at Argos for £29.39
What is it?
It is a sturdy based gym which has a cover that can be removed to wash but it is quite difficult to do this. It has an Arch with moving fish and which are movement activated but there is also a switch where the parent can activate it to play for five minutes. This requires 3 C cell batteries which are not included. It also has two removable rattles one that is a lobster and the other a fish. It also has two fish on long sticks which can be knocked to move around or removed to play with.
It was purchased before my son was born and does require assembly so was kept in the box until he was ready for it. The base is in two halves but it screwed together. Once assembled it does seem very sturdy.
I put my son on it once he started showing some interest in what was going on around him although it is suitable from birth. His initial response was one of no interest what so ever. He would lie on his and watch the TV whether it was on or off. It was the lights on the TV that attracted him and certainly no this Gym.
I would try on a regular basis rattling toys, starting the music and lights to attract his attention but he completely ignored it but did however appear comfortable.
When he was about three months old when he started to show an interest. He slowly learned to love it. He would pull the rattles off. He was the most chilled out baby I have ever met though and if something was out of his reach he would wait until someone passed him things. I do think other babies would put in more effort trying to reach for the fish. He activating the music and lights not but rocking the base but by giving it a good kick with his heel so as he started moving I had to be carefully his feet didn't go over the end and he kick the floor. He loved watching the fish and enjoyed been able to make something happen by his actions.
I stopped using the Gym when he started rolling as he was getting caught up in the arch. The Gym is designed to covert to a steering wheel once they are older but in my opinion there are better toys.
As this is quite big once it was moved out of the lounge it was great to have the extra space so it never came back in for the next stage.
I do think this is a great buy for a first Gym and would recommend it however I don't think it is necessarily that useful as a steering wheel.
My main reason for buying this baby gym was that when your baby is older and can sit up themselves it can be converted into a toy that they can sit on and steer so I thought we would get more use out of it than a standard baby gym.
PRODUCT DETAILS -
Suitable from birth
Requires 3 x C batteries
The base of the gym is rocker when baby moves which triggers the lights and music to start.
Can be set to play continous for 5 minutes independent of baby's movement.
The Circle in the centre of the gym is filled with liquid and fish bob around in it (this later becomes the steering wheel).
It has removable fish themed toys.
The base has a removable fabric pad which is machine washable.
OUR VERDICT - I initially really liked the fact that this was not just a play mat on the floor but the bit where baby lies is actually a plastic base with a fabric pad on as I thought this would be warmer and more comfortable on wooden floors, however Ellie was quite a long baby and did not have an awful lot of space before she was able to sit up and use it in its other 'mode'. However I don't think this would have really put me off as the lights and fish in the 'aquarium' really captured her attention from a very early age and she would be mesmerised, the colours of the gym itself and the detachable toys are bright and eye catching which was another plus point for me as I didn't want one in pale pastel shades.
I didn't find the music particularly annoying but the lights can be activated without the music if you prefer The detachable toys are also positioned really well, either side of where baby's head is there is a teether type toy, one is a bright red lobster and one is a fish rattle, if the baby turns his/her head to the side they are in the perfect position for them to look at and later to grab at. Sticking out above baby's head are two brightly coloured soft fish rattles which are also detachable and when my daughter got older and realised they came out she would grab at them for ages till she managed to get them lose. As well as loving the baby gym she liked the toys individually on their own and would often keep her occupied in her car seat or pram while we were out and about.
It was fairly easy to convert into the sitting up stage basically two switches and the play bar pushes down so if baby was sitting on the mat the 'steering wheel' is at hand level She did play with it in its second stage but usually not for very long as she preferred to crawl around till she found something that she wasn't allowed like a remote control.
All in all this was great as a baby gym and I would definitely recommend it, as a sit up toy it is also a good idea but didn't really interest Ellie much although she was a very active baby and once she could crawl nothing kept her attention for long and her cousin did quite like it and would sit and play with it for much longer. I wanted value for money when I bought this toy and I'd say I got it, i think we paid between £30-£40 for ours and I have just checked the argos website and they are currently priced at £29.39
