Advantages: Sturdy, colourful, very interesting for baby.
Disadvantages: Pricey, doesn't have moving parts.
The guideline age for this jungle themed product is from birth although I would suggest that if you make the purchase then you wait until your baby is a little older. My daughter didn't really take to it and hated tummy time until she was about 6 months old.
Now that she's older she finds all the colours and toys fascinating but some of the toys are out of reach to a baby that cannot sit unaided.
It comes with two butterflies at the top of the gym, which can spin around but this does not turn automatically and must be done manually by the baby. I was rather disappointed as by the time my child can reach them, she will be much too old to play on the gym.
It also comes with a spinning elephant rattle, another toy that spins, a monkey, a toucan with a bell inside and a mirror. All these can be hung from hooks on the gym which can come in handy as you can unhook them and place them elsewhere. E.g on the pram as a toy bar or clipped onto the car seat. I also have a bouncer with interchangable toys so I often swap the toys around to keep her stimulated.
It was easy to put together and it doubles up as a playmat, all you would need to do is to remove the two arches.
The play mat itself is nicely designed with lots of different textures for baby to feel. I particulary like the crinkling leaves.
The gym takes 3 C batteries which have lasted months. The batteries power the music and four flashing lights. This is where I feel the gym is overpriced as it plays a limited selection of annoyingly catchy songs and the lights come only in two set colours. For £50 I was hoping it would do more.
Summary: Good if you can spend a little more but cheaper products can do the same.
