Advantages: Entertains little one for ages, easy to clean, helps development.
Disadvantages: Size
When my daughter was around 5months old, we decided to buy her a door bouncer. When we went to the shops to have a look, I was a bit disappointed because they didn't look that good and I was concerned over the safety (first time mum and all..) In the end we decided to leave it because thinking about it, our daughter would be hanging off a door frame in the draughtiest, coldest places in the house, so we thought it would be better to get her an activity centre type thing instead where she would be able to sit in it and play in more comfort.
When I was browsing on the internet for such an item, I came across the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo. As a first time mum and not knowing much about these fancy looking things, I had a look through lots of reviews. No one had a bad word to say about them and it seemed that all the babies that had one, loved them. We went to Mothercare to have a look at one and thought it looked like a good idea, it was much more expensive than the door bouncer we had originally intended to purchase but it did look like a good toy that would last for quite a while. I think we paid around £75 for it and came home to get started! My husband put it all together fairly quickly although some of the bits did look a bit fiddly.
It looked like lots of fun once it was together although it did look bigger than in the shop. This wasn't a problem though as the front of the frame unclips, allowing us to fold it in half enough to slide it in the coat cupboard in the hallway when not in use. The Jumperoo has a parrot shaped padded seat that rotates the full 360 degrees around the Jumperoo so that baby can reach all the activities around the play centre. Above the seat are 2 interchangeable, height adjustable leaves with toys hanging off - there is a parrot on one of them and a lizard hanging from the other. The play centre part around the seat has lots of activities such as a spinning lizard, a spinning sunshine in a ball, a pop up lizard, 3 little friends dangling and more. When baby jumps, they are rewarded with lights, music and sounds - although I have to say that there is an off switch as the music gets very repetitive. The Jumperoo has 3 height adjustable positions so you can make it higher as baby grows, I didn't find this the easiest thing to do but once it's done it lasts a few months so your not doing it constantly anyway.
I found the Jumperoo really easy to keep clean, all the plastic wipes down really easily, the seat pad and hanging soft toys came off for easy washing. Even though this piece of equipment got used so much, we never had to replace the batteries -which is brilliant.
Our daughter had so much fun with the Jumperoo, she used to sit and play in it for ages and it really did keep her occupied. She loved all the activities and in the end became an expert at bouncing. It lasted until after she was 1 and then she just got too big and mobile to use it, so we gave it a good clean and packed it away in the loft for any future children. We are expecting number 2 soon and I am already looking forward to getting it down in a few months time to use it all over again.
Summary: Excellent, anyone who has one will agree! Brilliant toy,
