Galt Baby Nest
Advantages: safe, bright and fun
Disadvantages: a little pricey
I was given the Galt Baby Nest by a friend from work as her children had outgrown it and was absolutely delighted as i had been advised by my health visitor to buy one of these (and having seen the price of them it made it even better being given to me for free!) My daughter was about four months old or so when we received this and the timing was great as she was at the stage of enjoying sitting up more than being in her bouncing chair and being a bit more laid down than sitting up.
What is the baby nest?? It is a big rubber ring basically! The baby can sit up against the side, lie down and play in the middle and when they are older climb all over (if they are anything like my daughter!) The baby nest provides a soft safe playing area for baby which of course gives us mums peace of mind!
The nest needs to be inflated, and to be honest it wasn't that difficult to do myself but a pump would make it even easier to blow up. Once inflated a baby gym can be attached which has various toys attached to it and all are brightly coloured and patterned. The baby can also just play in the nest without the gym attached and my daughter preferred it without the gym and just loved sitting in it with one or two toys! The ring is covered in brightly coloured pictures of farm animals which is instantly attractive for baby! Also the animals have different textures, the duck's beak is a squeaker, the sheep is fluffy etc - this is great for baby to get a feel of different things and is also good is you aren't using the gym as baby still gets plenty of enjoyment.
I cannot recommend this strongly enough, your baby can sit in this as soon as they are strong enough to hold their head steady and the ring is totally supportive for them. The textures and colours on the ring are brilliant for babies and it develops their sensory development which i think is really important! The cover of the ring is washable, as are the toys on the gym, and it easily deflates so you can take it on your travels too which is a great thing!
The baby nest retails at around £35 which is expensive but i think its a really good thing to have for your baby and i'm sure they will love it!
Summary: a really good buy
