Advantages: colourful, washable, baby can sit unaided at a young age

Disadvantages: bit big to store and could be considered expensive

Having bought one of these Galt nests for my first son when he was about 9mths I can say it was one of the best investments ever. I now have a 6mth old who has been in it since he was 5mths old and I think my only regret is that I did not buy it sooner with the older one. I just bought the nest, nowadays you buy it with a gym over the top.

So why is it so good? Well, basically it is a big rubber ring which you have to blow up and then it has a very colourful cover which has farmyard animals on that have ears or beaks attached that either squeak or are made of ruffley paper. It really helps the baby to learn to sit up and keep his balance - it helps in their overall development. It is washable which helps!

Also I put my son in it with a blanket at the back of him so this helps stablise him at the moment, as he is 6mths, and still a bit wobbley. I place toys around the outside of it and in and can easily walk off and let him play. My 3 yr old also sits in it, when the other one isnt, and watches TV. I also think it will be very easy to sell second hand after they have finished with it as it is very well made and when washed looks like new.

I cant remember how much I paid for it but I think it was around £25-£30. If there is one draw back I think it would be that it is a large thing to store but I find it fits behind the settee just perfect.
