A nice little playtime for babies
Member Name: ally_kats_mama
Advantages: Entertaining, supports babies
Disadvantages: Only usable for a short space of time.
When you have a child (particularly your first one) you end up with one of absolutely everything. I was no exception to the rule when I was first pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago. My Mum loved buying stuff for her and I ended up with this Galt Playnest for her. It cost her about £20 at the time. I am pretty sure it was in the sale at Boots.
The playnest is a cloth cover with lots of colourful pictures on it and little activities for your baby to do. Inside the cloth is an inflatable ring which has to be blown up. Once it is blown up, you sit your child in the middle and they can rest against the ring whilst playing and doing the little activities. The cover is a multi sensory cover where it has different fabrics, things which make different noises etc. My daughter loved to feel all the different textures under her hand and there was a squeaker on one bit which she used to forever squeak.
It is very easy to put together. Just a case of blowing it up! Nothing too difficult.
I found it really good for my daughter. We used to use pillows, cushions and duvets to cover the floor so that she would not topple over and hurt herself but with the playnest we could pop her in it and not worry so much. Babies do still have to be completely supervised as the can still try and get out of the ring.
It washes up lovely. There was a couple of times when my daughter would get that little dribble of milk on it and I would just pop it in the wash. The playnest did not lose its shape nor did any of the little activities lose anything. We still have it out in the shed and it still looks like new.
My daughter did grow out of this very quickly. By the time she had learned to crawl, she just wasn't interested. She was more interested in trying to make an escape from it. I believe it costs around £30.00-£40.00 now and it seriously isn't worth that much money. It just isn't used for that long for it to warrant the cost.
I do recommend it but only if you're happy to pay out for something which lasts such a short amount of time.
