“ Brand: Hauck / Type: Bouncer „
When you receive the chair is does need to be assembled but this is only a case of putting the bars together and placing the chair seat over the bars and fastening with popper buttons. It took all of five minutes and we did not need to use the instructions. This bouncer is very simple it does not have music or vibrations but it is a recliner seat that I would rather have over the other features as I find it more practical.
Our chair comes in red and cream and it is lovely and bright yet simple and not too over the top with different multi colours. There are small pictures of aliens on the seat but these are only small and I do think the chair would be suitable for both a boy as the colours are suitable for both equally.
Once the chair is built up the first thing you notice is how well made it is, we found it to have large supporting poles and the whole seat itself seems very high quality. It is larger than other bouncer chairs we have had for our other children and I think that is great as it provides more comfort and means that when they grow to a few months old they do not look too big for the chair.
The seat has a lot of padding making it soft and comfortable for little one to sit in and the harness is very easy to open and close and keeps little one sitting safely in the chair with no way they can get out by themselves. My daughter will happily sit in this chair meaning I can get on with sorting the house while keeping an eye on her in the room with me. There is no head rest provided with this chair but because of the design of the chair I don't find one is need as it curves up either side it keeps little one straight sitting in the middle of the chair. They also sink in to the soft padded chair which provides a little support for them and I have never had any problems with my little girl tipping to either side of the chair.
There is a toy bar provided and it fixes firmly on to the chair either side which I love as this means my older children cannot pull it off the chair which I have had previous problems with other bouncy chairs we have owned. This does make it a little difficult for myself to remove but it is possible and as my little girl has got older and bigger it has become difficult to remove her from the chair with the toy bar attached we have taken it off. The toys are not detachable from the bar itself but they do provide a welcome distraction for little when they become bored and my daughter really enjoys staring at them although I do find the bar is a little too high for a child to reach up and push them and this would not be possible up until the child has nearly out grew the chair.
On either side of the chair and at the back there are little plastic switches that change the chair from a rocking chair to a seat that sits firmly on the ground without any movement. This is easily done by either lifting the switches up if you would like to use it as a bouncer or simply place them down so that flat edge is on the floor for it to stay still. I was a little worried as they are only small pieces of plastic that the chair may be a little unstable when used in the normal chair mode but it sits very well and provides a stable seat for little one. The bouncer rocks forward and back easily when in the rocking mode effortlessly and very smoothly.
One of the best features of this bouncer is that the seat actually reclines and this can be done with one hand as promised in the product description. This makes it a perfect chair for younger children as it can lie right back providing a safe angle for smaller children backs and for this reason I do agree it can be used from birth plus. There is also a sitting up position available which is great for when little one grows a little and wants to watch the world pass by and moving between the two positions is easy to do by pressing a button that sits at the back of the seat and once you here the click of the positioning you know that it is firmly in place and ready to be used.
There are two carry handles if you wish to carry this seat around with you it would be very easy to do but to be honest our chair stays in the front room and we very rarely move it anywhere. The seat cover can be taken off but is hand wash only and it does come up very well, dry's quickly and keeps its shape so it is easy to put it back on the chair afterwards. There are small foam pieces on the bottom bars of the seat to provide a little grip if the chair is sitting on hard flooring rather than carpet.
The carry handles are great for carrying the seat around but they are rather large and I do have to tuck them under the seat or I find they hang out the side and are rather dangerous if my older children come across to see Niamh they can get their foot stuck and fall over. Of course this is not just dangerous for my older children but also for little one sitting in the chair as it could pull the chair forward or on to its front. The handles are attached to the main body of the chair and there is no way to remove them and I do find them to be oversized otherwise they would not cause a problem.
This chair is suitable from birth up until the child can sit unaided as then they could lean forward and tip the chair over. It retails at around £40 and is available from Amazon, Asda and other leading online retailers. I would highly recommend this chair it is very durable and comfortable for baby with the added benefit of reclining. There are no sounds or vibrations with this chair but it is provided with a toy bar to encourage play. This is actually the best chair we have owned for any of our children and not a huge price to pay for somewhere for baby to sit while mummy gets the housework done.
