Ahhh, yes - I know what you're thinking: Another review about Winnie the Pooh stuff?! I did warn you we kitted our daughter's nursery out in Winnie The Pooh!
Anyway, my Mum purchased this activity play gym for my daughter just after she was born. I fell in love with it because a) it is Winnie the Pooh and b) because it gave my daughter something else to do other than being in someone's arms, having them coo at her or lay in her moses basket.
The playmat consists of 2 soft bars which form a half oval arch across the actual mat itself and from the the bar are 3 of the Winnie the Pooh characters: Tigger, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. No sign of Eeyore which was disappointing. All of the characters are soft and hang from little fabric loops and are held there with little bits of velco. They come away from the arch if your little one wants to take them off and play with them, chew them or whatever their preferance! There are additional fabric loops on this to add other characters but despite searching, I never found them which was disappointing.
The fun doesn't stop there, on the actual playmat itself are two big pictures of Winnie The Pooh, Piglet and Eeyore (yay for Eeyore!). Winnie the Pooh is holding a balloon which is actual a mirror for your baby to look in at themselves when they are laying on the tummies. My daughter used to spend absolutely ages just looking at herself in this mirror, making different faces. It provided great entertainment for both her and me!
Piglet has that crinkly material in his ears which makes little rustling noises everytime you touch them. The ears are quite small and very difficult to grasp so my daughter decided to just rub her hands over the ears and she produced the same effect. She did tend to bypass this activity however.
Eeyore is alot more fun! He has a squeaky nose and a rattle in his tail. The squeak is quite loud and my daughter loved nothing more than to press it to see Mummy's "scared" expression! His tail is easy for a child to grab and my daughter was always pulling it and thumping it down to make it rattle. She really loved the Eeyore on this mat.
The good thing about this mat is that I think it encourages babies to turn over and look at the things that are underneath them and vice versa.
The bag is easy to get out and put away again. It comes with a little blue plastic bag and it is simply a case of folding it and sliding it in the bag. Definately helpful when you have a cat that likes the playmat too! It is also completely washable. The mat is quite comfy and well padded. I couldn't feel any lumps or bumps on the floor through it and my daughter always seemed very content on it.
I do think there is a bit of an age limit on it. My daughter started using it when she was nearly 2 months old. By the time she reached 5 months, she was a bit bored with it and much prefered to do other things, like soft build blocks etc. She did always play with the soft toys though.
I would definately recommend this playmat. My daughter had lots of fun on it and she enjoyed herself with it, even if it was only for a few months. I think it cost my Mum around £25-£30.
I had this given to me by a friend for my twins when they were babies as she had two playmats and didnt really use this 1. I'd never seen it before until she had given it to me I was really impressed though. It came folded up in a plastic bag, so if you ever wanted to put it away tidy you could.
It was a soft padded mat, with easy attachable plastic bars going over the top, they just clipped in with ease at the bottom of the mat, the way pram clips click on. On the bars were winnie the pooh teddy figures that had velcro straps attached to hook onto the hooks on the bars.
My boys looked so comfy on it, and enjoyed trying to reach out for the figures, I would keep changing the hooks they were attached to so they would learn to lean to the side to reach and moving about.
Apart from it being easy to put together, and tidily put it away, it was a lovely design and it could be used for a baby girl or baby boy even though its blue its still a very pretty and beautiful mat, as always winnie the pooh products usually are lovely and unisex. I reccomend this to anybody with a newborn baby.
I was bought this as a gift for my little boy because like many others i love winnie the pooh and the characters involved with the whole 100 acre wood series.
The playmat consists of the following
Soft padded play mat featuring Pooh, Eeyore with tail and Piglet..
Eeyore has a rattle in the tail and a squeaky nose.
Winnie holds a balloon that has a mirror in it for when baby has tummy time.
Poor piglet has nothing..Apart from his 2 tiny ears having the crinkle material in them they are that small a small child could not grip them . There isn't a lot in my opinion on there to keep baby stimulated.
There is not enough stimulation on the mat for my liking.
Activity arch comes with detachable soft toys of Winnie the Pooh, Piglet and Tigger , also has additional loops for attaching favorite toys.
The mat is suitable from birth.
Totally washable and comes with its own bag for when you no longer need it out..Just flat pack and put it away.
My son is 5 months and now is not interested in the figurines that are on the mat. There is a limited amount that the actual mat has to entertain little one so now i have bought all new toys that he can use on there and have also attached a smaller square playmat on with similar attractions for hand and eye coordination.
He now loves his playmat again with his revamped Pooh toys.
For £29 its a good buy if you like this kind of thing but you need to be aware you may need to upgrade the toys and stimulation on there to keep baby interested.
Suitable from birth. Soft padded play mat featuring Pooh, Eyore with tail and Piglet. Machine washable.
