Advantages: Works well long lasting
Disadvantages: Simple no frills chair
The bouncer on first appearance looks rather flimsy for a mamas and Papas product it has thin legs and the material is very thin but the overall appearance is still rather pleasing with bright colours standing out well so we were happy with our purchase.
The bouncer itself needs to be put together but this is rather simple and only takes around 5 to 10 minutes it is just a case of fitting the frame together and adding the seat cover and toy arch and it is ready to go. There are instructions but it is easy enough to do without them and if I am able to do it anyone can.
The non slip feet mean that the chair can sit on laminate flooring without sliding really well and it does not push away from you while you are putting little one in and no matter how much they wiggle it stays in one place so great for children who are just exploring movement.
It is bright and colourful in appearance a white background with lots of bright shapes and animals printed all over but the fresh design means it is suitable for both boys and girls which is great. It has a toy bar that sits across the bouncer which has 3 bright red toys for little one to look at and play with they are made from soft material and are great for developing senses the toy bar can be a little difficult to clip on at first as the grips that hold on to the side of the frame are rather stiff but this does ease up once you remove and re ad it a few times and it comes off very easy making it possible to get little one in and out quickly. The toys just hook on to the toy bar and this can result in them slipping down one side but this did not seem to bother my little girl as it made them easier to get at and play with.
There is a seat strap that secures little one in and it has 2 clips either side to open and close it which is easy enough for mummy or daddy to do but difficult for children so my son was not able to try and get his sister out to play which he did try many of times. This feature makes me happy knowing that little one is safely held in the bouncer no matter how much they wriggle and move so peace of mind.
There is no music with this bouncy chair but there is a vibration feature there are two speeds you can choose from and both are rather gentle and help little one drift off to sleep. This is easy to locate at the bottom of the seat of the bouncer and it does require 2 AA batteries and these are not included. I would suggest a high quality battery for this as we tried supermarket ones and they lasted all of a few days where as Duracell lasted weeks and weeks so it is worth paying the extra. This is great it helps little one relax and although I do not like to use it too much it is a nice extra to amuse baby while they sit in the seat.
One of my downsides is this is said to be suitable from birth although I like to keep my children lying flat or in my arms for as long as possible during their first few weeks as it can be very bad for their developing back I expected this to lay back a lot more than it does. It does not sit upright but still far enough that even my 4 week old little girl looked really uncomfortable in it so I went in to panic mode and she went back in her mosses basket for a few more weeks and it was not until she was around 8 weeks old I fully trusted putting her in this bouncer.
As this bouncer is only designed till around 6 months due to baby sitting up and being more independent they can easily tip the chair it does limit the amount of time you can use it but I suppose with all things related to babies they soon grow out of them.
A positive part of this bouncer is it has a head support that can be easily taken away once little one is older and no longer needs it. Also the whole seat cover is removable and washing machine friendly which is great as it is white and can get rather dirty quickly. This is easy to remove and add back on and it helps the bouncer stay in tip top condition. It washed well it did not shrink and the colours did not run at all the end result was the seat looking brand new again without affecting any of the quality.
The legs of the bouncer may look thin but we found in use this allowed the perfect amount of movement for little one as she wriggles in her seat creating a sift bouncing for her as she played. We did not really use this and we did not often use the chair preferring to have her out and about exploring this was mainly used for while mummy was doing housework and my little girl wanted to look around but she preferred her bumbo seat to this.
There is no extra padding to the chair and it is just the thin cotton material that little one sits on and although it is comfy enough it might have been nice to have a little padding like other bouncers we have owned saying that then it would make it more difficult to wash it so maybe this is why.
Over all it is sturdy enough although it looks a little flimsy it lasted my daughter for the time she needed it and we actually gave it to my sister in law who used it for 5 months with her little girl and it was still going strong. It is very durable and despite our first thought when looking at it the bouncer has lasted really well.
I would recommend this bouncer jut not from birth as they suggest as the comfort for a new born baby is just not there but this is definitely another winner from mamma and papas. It retails at around£25 which for a bouncer is cheap but there is a lot less material and extras with this bouncer is just a plain and simple seat which is probably why.
Summary: A ok bouncer for the price
