“ Brand: Mothercare / Type: Activity Gyms „
This a lovely well made toy. I paid about £55 for this which is quite expensive but it does last a long time. It starts off as either a rocker or it can be pushed along by the parent as it has a long handle. One of the good things about it is that it has straps to fasten your child in so my son was able to go in this from 7 months as it also has sides on it so there was no way he could fall out of it. It is very easy to push along and my son loved it but it is not very easy to steer around corners so needs to be tipped up to make turning easier. Now that my son is 18 months we have taken the sides and the straps off and he can get on and off it and scoot around on it using his feet so uses it like a sit and ride toy now but we still have the handle on so can also push him on it. I really like the colour of this because it is suitable for both boys and girls as it is red blue and yellow. It also has a fun control panal at the front which makes noises and you can turn the key and it also sings which my son spends ages playing with. Another fun thing about it is that the seat lifts up so my son hides lots of things in it. This is very sturdy and still looks like brand new so think it will definately be passed on to other children after my son has finished using it.
I bought this item for my little girl as present for her for her first Christmas when she was about six months old. Although it was available in pink we chose to buy the colourway pictured above and are glad we did as the bright colours really seemed to stimulate her and we were able to pass it onto our little boy when he was born. I like this item as it is well made and does last a child through several different stages. However I do agree we other reviewers that to class this item as a 7-in-1 toy is slightly excessive as several of the so called stages simply consist of taking items such as musical componants away. This toy however is good value for money as it can be used as a rocker for small babies (and includes straps to ensure that your baby is kept safe and does not fall out), a fun, alternative to a pushchair for slightly older children (I would say up to about the age of 2) as you can remove the rocking parts and add a handle so that you can push your children along without having to bend down, and as a ride on toy (which even now my older girl likes to ride about on). Overall this toy was excellent value for money as both my two children have used this item throughout their toddler lives.
We got this for our son for his first christmas, at 6 months we are thinking great it will last ages, Im not so sure that it will really last to the advertised 36 months. dont get me wrong I like it and my son has fun in it, but im glad we got it when it was on offer. we never really used it as a rocker, as when it did rock he hit his head on the back on the chair, he sits really well so it wasnt that he was using it for support, it just didnt seem comfortable as a rocker. I have now taken the rocker base off and have skipped using the small foot rest as its only used in the house and I dont think my 6 month old would know to put his feet on the tiny footrest supplied if we were to take it outside. so we are currently using it as a pushalong ride on toy with the support arms, I have no doubt he will continue to get use out of this as he grows but I dont feel there is much more to do with it other then remove the support arms and seat cover. Another bad point I have picked up on is the electronic panel on the front, its great for the features, theres a horn, accelerator, brake, key to turn, music to play, and 2 other sounds a baby laugh and spring. My son loves listening to all the noises, but he has also figured out just how easy the panel comes off of the unit, he has thrown it on the floor many times already, im suprised it doesnt fit in more securely with a clip or something maybe, my main concern is that between now and when he finishes using it the electronic panel will be lost somewhere.
We got this for our son for Christmas, as he is only 6 moths old. I was attracted to it as it has 7 stages, so goes from 6months-3 years, so thought it would last him a long time. Unfortunatly, most of the 7 stages are already not needed, and we are using it as a trekker with arm support bars(we only have one stage left which is trekker without arm support bars) Technically, its not really 7 stages, as most of them are only slight variations, so thats a bit misleading. However, apart from all of this, I dont want to down the product in any way, I must say this is a great item, and our son loves it. Its very easy to assemble, and looks great with its bright colours. The handset on the steering wheel has several different buttons, a big yellow one which beeps, a accerator lever, and 3 other buttons. One of the three buttons plays a tune(theres three different ones)but unfortunately the others only make beeping sounds, so they dont really last very long, and you have to keep pressing them to keep the child entertained. Having said that, the button which plays the three tunes-our son loves them, and the look on his face when they come on is a picture! The steering itself of this actually quite good for a childs toy, and it corners pretty well, much better than I would have thought. The only drawback to this is that the seat and back support is very packed, so if your child does like to thrust themselves about, the back support is quite hard, so they might be a little uncomfortable. Also, the straps which you hold the child in with are velcro, which makes things a little harder when strapping them in.
My fiancé and myself purchased the Mothercare 7 in 1 trekker for our son's first Christmas. It was priced at £70 (though I have seen it reduced to £42) We originally purchased this item as it suited from 6 months and grew with the child, hopefully meaning that he would get lots of use from it. The trekker itself is not too hard to build up although some parts (like the parent handle) are quite hard to click in. The instructions also leave a bit to be desired! It is made of plastic, which any mum will know is great when it comes to young babies/toddlers due to jammy fingers and chocolate splodges. It wipes clean easily and is very durable. My son loves sitting in the trekker although he does not like the straps. On closer inpection it seems like they restrict his movement so we do not use them (he is closely supervised of course) and he will sit in it for hours. The 'control panel' is also a fan addition as this helps to keep the children entertained. It could do with some flashing lights as the sounds get a little repetitive. It is very easy for little hands to play with though. It is slightly worrying that my 6 month old can remove the panel from the trekker. Overall the trekker is quite good although I feel it is over priced at £70, although I have only used the trekker for stage 1 so after I use the rest it may go up in my opinions.
My partner bought the Mothercare 7 in 1 Trekker about a month ago. At the time it was on special offer, reduced from £59.99 to £44.99. It is available in two colour schemes, one typically feminine and the other typically masculine. The 'boys' one is the one pictured above. I personally really like this toy. It has a removable music unit, which my son often plays with on its own, different modes of transport on the trekker and a small storage compartment. I don't quite know what to put in the storage compartment, it is a bit small. Its seven features are: rocker with support frame and parent handle stroller with footrest and parent handle ride on with footrest and parent handle with support frame pushalong without support frame sit and rock without support frame ride on without support frame or parent handle removable electronic unit for separate toy Mothercare do go a little overboard in describing it as a 7 in 1, many of the motions can be done with our without the parent handle or support frame. Also, this product is suitable for ages 6 months to 3 years. although it appears robust and solid, I am not sure that it would last until my son is 3 years - he is just 8 months now. If it does then is a bargain toy indeed, well worth the £45. We were actually prepared to pay the £59.99 for it. It was luck that the sale had started when we went to collect it after our holiday. Even if it doesn't last that long, I still think it is a great investment, it keeps him entertained and happy and that keeps me happy! My friends son who is 2 1/2 also enjoys the ride on function when he comes to play. The removable fabric cover is machine washable which is always an added bonus with children.
This is a great toy that grows with your child through different stages. To be described as 7 in 1 is a little misleading I guess as some of the stages are for example. just removing the front music box. However, it is still a good long-life toy! It starts as a rocker for younger babies (6 months plus), however, it doesn't really have a big rocking motion. My son more enjoyed just sitting in it and playing with the buttons at this age. By then removing the blue footrest/ rocking panels it turns into a push-along car, with a handle for the parent to use to push the child along in the car. The handle was a good height, however the whole car is a little difficult to maneuver with no steering- you can not control the steering- I needed to actually pick the car up and turn it manually if we wanted to go around a corner, and it doesn't give the smoothest of rides! The final stage is removing the foot rests completely and allowing the child to move the car himself. This is the most beneficial stage of the car and my son loves driving it around the house and still pressing the buttons. It isn't the easiest type of these cars to maneuver, but is still fun. It is colourful and attractive, good quality and well made. The straps are a little short and do not adjust however to get around my boy, and I'm pretty sure would not go around many 3 year olds. The trekker usually costs £59.99, however Mothercare currently have an offer for £39.99. I would say it is worth this price just for the longevity of the toy for a child.
Suitable from 6 months. Rocker with support frame, removable multi-sound electronics, seat with storage compartment.
