I got the obaby vibrating chair as a gift from the inlaws after they offered to buy things for my daughter when I was pregnant so found this in tesco for round £25 and suggested this as thought it would be great to sit in and entertain her when she was awake.
Its cream which means its very neutral so great for little boys or girls, but gets dirty very easy aswell, it comes with a detachable toy bar which attaches to main frame of bouncer and has 3 toys attached to it to amuse your child.
The bouncer has the vibrating feature which I heard was meant to sooth babies while sitting in it, you can see this is on with a light that's on down the bottom.
The bouncer is very lightweight and easy to carry which is perfect for moving it when needs be, I also found it particularly easy to build and didn't take too much effort, hardest part was the fabric going on the chair as needs to be put on in a particular way.
The chair is from newborn up until 6 months or child can sit unaided, this chair is very suitable from newborn as has a strap that does hold your child in.
Overall my child did not like this chair and didn't really use it but we also had a swing and was much keener on that think that was due to the fact she liked the movement, I do think this is a great product for babies and for £25 is a great price. Keeps them in a secure place and entertains them.
When I was having Jayden one of the things I wanted to get him for when he was born was some sort of chair or bouncer that he could sit in while he was awake, I wanted something that would support his head so it needed to be suitable from birth. At the time we had quite a lot of Tesco vouchers which we had received so I decided to have a quick look at what they had available. I came across the Obaby B is for Bear Vibrating Bouncer, it was very reasonably priced and ideal for what we needed and was suitable for him to use from birth.
The Obaby B is for Bear Vibrating Bouncer came unassembled in a large cardboard box with the name of the product on it and a picture of the product, I cannot remember the exact details of the packaging as I got rid of this a while before Jayden was born, inside the box all of the pieces of the bouncer were wrapped in a clear polythene to help protect it. The bouncer comes in 4 pieces and was very easy to assemble, there is a leaflet telling you how to do this, the base part was made of 2 pieces these simply push together, there are 4 rubbery plastic pieces where the 2 parts join, these screw round to hold to 2 bits of the frame together. The hardest part of putting this together was sliding the cover over the small box at the front, this has a button on it which allows you to switch the vibrating mechanism on and off. Once the actual seat itself is constructed the final part is to clip the curved padded bar onto either side of the seat, this has 3 toys hanging from it for you baby to look at and play with, this can easily be taken on and off of the seat depending on whether you want to use it or not. When we were constructing the base part it didn't feel overly sturdy despite being made from metal, however once all of the separate parts were in place and secured to each other the whole thing did feel extremely stable and safe.
When we purchased the Obaby B is for Bear Bouncer there was only one colour to choose from and that was cream, we didn't mind this at all as it was suitable for a both boys and girls, we knew we were having a boy but were happy for the bouncer to be cream, however since then you can now purchase the exact same product in a further 3 colours, pink, blue and white. The metal frame is covered with a cream coloured paint effect, the actual seat and padded play bar is made from a hardwearing cream coloured fabric, the actual seat part has a beige and cream checked area in the middle of it, this is where you sit your baby. The fabric is slightly textured and feels very hardwearing and sturdy, but at the same time it is soft for you baby to touch and sit on. There is also a strap which comes up between the baby's legs and holds them in place with two small clips on either side of the chair, the strap has a picture of a white bear on the front of it, this has a slight fury feel to it. The strap is the same beige and cream checked material as the seating area on the main seat. The fabric of the chair can be removable to allow you to wash it, however I have not actually tried this so do not know how easy it would be, it may be easier to wash the seat down with it still attached to the frame.
As I have mentioned there is a cream padded play bar which goes across the seat, this has two white teddy bears attached to it and another toy consisting of two padded hearts attached to each other made from the same material as the bouncer, these toys are held in place by cream colour material and Velcro meaning that they can be detached from the play bar for cleaning. This bouncer is designed to allow your baby freedom and movement but at the same time keeps them safe. The bouncer is suitable from birth or when your baby can sit unaided up until around 6 months, the seat part of the bouncer is tilted back slightly so that you do not have to worry about your baby's head flopping forward, the weight recommendations for this product are between 2kg and 9kg. Although suitable from birth to start with we could not put Jayden in this as he was too small, weight wise he was fine but he is quite a small baby and tended to end up slumped in a little ball in it, however the last couple of weeks he has gained a bit more weight and has grown and can now happily sit in his bouncer, he is also able to support himself a little more which has also helped.
The Obaby B is for Bear Bouncer is very light to carry so can easily be moved from room to room, I have even taken ours over my parents house as it is so light to lift and carry to the car. The bouncers measures 47cm (H), 51cm (D) and 66cm (W), it weighs 1.6kg, this is of a decent size, plenty big enough so that you baby has enough room to move their arms and legs around without them going over the edge of the chair, yet it is not big and bulky, ours either sits in his bedroom or during the day in the corner of our lounge when it is not being used and it does not get in the way at all, personally I feel this is an ideal size making to practical for every day use. The bouncer also has a vibrating mechanism on it as well, this is operated by a single button on the front of the bouncer, there is a small green LED light to show whether it is on or off, to make this work you need one D sized battery, this is not included in the box and needs to be purchased separately.
As I have mentioned we purchased our Obaby Bouncer from Tesco online, the product cost us £34.92, we used our Tesco vouchers for this, however I do feel that this is a good price for this, it is of an excellent quality, hardwearing and sturdy and is much cheaper than some similar products I have seen for sale in various other shops. I'm not sure if you can purchase this product anywhere else as I have not seen it advertised anywhere, however Tesco have now increased their range of this product and as I have said now stock it in four colours rather than just one as when we purchased it.
Overall I am extremely pleased with my Obaby B is for Bear Vibrating Boucher and so is Jayden, it is an excellent product, it is sturdy and hardwearing and allows your baby to sit unaided safely and securely. I can sit Jayden in this whilst I am doing my housework and know that he is safe, he will sit happily for quite some time looking at the toys attached to the play bar and watching them move as he knocks them or moves around in the bouncer making it bounce. With the bouncer being so light I can carry it around the house so that I can keep an eye on what he is doing and also so that he can see me, we even take the bouncer out into the garden if we are out there and he can sit out there with us in the fresh air without someone having to hold him all the time, this has been handy in the recent hot weather as he does tend to get a bit too hot and grumpy with someone holding him all the time, this has allowed him to sit outside in the shade with us without having to be on someone's lap. This is definitely a product I would recommend to anyone with a baby and I would certainly consider Obaby products in the future.
I bought the OBABY vibrating chair for my baby as I wanted somewhere that they could sit comfortably during the day whilst awake. I liked the idea of a vibrating chair as I thought that this feature would be soothing for baby - particularly when newborn and used to life in the womb. I was also surprised at the price of chairs similar to this that were on the market and didn't want to spend a fortune, at £29.99 from Mothercare (web exclusive) this suited me perfectly.
I purchased the chair in a cream colour, although it is also available in blue and pink. The chair is lightweight and basically fabric stretched over a white metal frame. The chair comes flat-packed so you need to make this up yourself. This is pretty simple and straight forward, the only aspect I struggled with was stretching the fabric over the frame - which is a pretty tight fit - this was quite a fiddly process.
The fabric is cream, with a brown and white chequered cushioned fabric where baby sits. At the bottom of the seat there is a push button and white plastic box. This operates the vibration of the chair and a battery needs to be inserted here. No battery is provided with the chair so this needs to be purchased separately.
There is also a detachable cushioned toy bar provided, which can be clipped onto the sides of the chair once baby is in it. This contains two soft white bears and a row of white and brown soft hearts.
There is a safety harness to strap baby into the chair which goes between baby's legs and clips at each side of the chair using plastic buckle fastenings. This has a picture of a bear on.
The chair is really lightweight so easy to carry around the house, which is great if I am trying to move baby from one room to another. The vibration is easy to operate and fairly gentle - it just makes a low humming noise and you can feel a slight vibration if you place your palm on the chair.
The chair was a little big when baby was first born and the harness was too big for him - he was rather unsure of it too and it took a little bit of time for him to come round to it. Now he is a bit older, he will happily sit in it for a fair amount of time, before becoming bored. He finds the vibrating action soothing and likes to have this on if he is in the chair. The toy bar does provide a little stimulation but I have found that my baby gets bored of this quickly and I prefer to give him some of his other toys to play with in the chair and not attach the toy bar.
The battery seems to last quite a while - although this will obviously depend on how often you use the chair. I am pleased about this as I imagine changing the battery will be a bit of a palaver as it means removing the fabric from the frame and stretching it back over again.
The chair wipes clean pretty well too. As it is cream in colour, I was worried that it would stain really easily but, as long as you wipe up any milk spillages etc quickly, it doesn't stain too badly.
For the price that I paid, I really cannot fault this chair. It is basic but does the job that I bought it for. Baby is happy and comfortable whilst sitting in it, which is my main concern. The vibrating action is gentle and soothing for my baby and he is also able to bounce and rock in the seat. The chair is well cushioned for added comfort.
I feel that the chair is lightweight enough to be easily portable but still have no concerns over the sturdiness and support that it offers my baby. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a simple chair for a new baby at a reasonable price.
