“ Brand: Mothercare / Type: Play Mats „
I was a member of the iVillage message boards when I was pregnant and after I had my daughter. It was nice to talk to women going through the same things as I was and also to get suggestions with what was a good idea to get for when you had your baby, which products were a bit of a miss and so on. One day when I was browsing on the forum, I noticed talk of the "Please Look After Me Bean Bag" from Mothercare. A few of the Mums on there were saying what a good idea these were I had to look in to them.
I found the bean bags on the Mothercare website and after a bit of reading and a small discussion with my husband we decided to get one. It looked comfortable and we thought it was a good idea so that when she feel asleep if didn't have the moses basket in the lounge then she could sleep on this instead of having to stay in our arms until she woke up again. I am sure every parent has been there when their child has fallen asleep in their arms and just cannot move through fear of waking said baby up. Even if you need the loo!
There is only one colour available which is the cream coloured one. I guess that is so it is neutral if being purchased for a gift. The first thing I thought when I saw it was that it look so comfy. I was actually quite jealous! We put our daughter on the bean bag and she immediately sunggled her body into the bean bag to get comfy and about 5 minutes later she was out for the count! She seemed to love it from the get go. One of the things which really pleased me about this bean bag was that it had a little crotch strap safety harness to prevent your baby from falling off though this isn't a safety measure so that your child can be left alone on it. Your child should always be supervised whilst using the bean bag.
The quality of the product was of a high standard. This bean bag was well made and very secure in its stitching. It measured 82 x 55 x 28cm and was fairly big. It contained proper micro balls which allow the bean bag to mould to your baby's body shape giving the ultimate in comfort. It does state that it is not suitable for naps or night time sleeps but my daughter would always have a little nap on it in the day. I didn't see any issue with this as she always had someone watching her. She was never left along on the bean bag.
The cover of the bean bag is also removeable and washable which was great as every parent knows there is always going to be that occassion when your baby decides to bring back a little bit of bottle!
This bean bag is only suitable for use up until your child is 6 months old. The reason for this is because at this stage a child is learning to roll over and is becoming alot more mobile. It would be too simple for them to roll off of it and hurt themselves.
It is a little bit on the expensive side - £49.99 but I think it is worth every penny. It is high quality and babies love it too (Mummy would have loved one!). Once my daughter had no use for it anymore, we sold ours on eBay for £35 so it wasn't bad for resale afterwards either.
I purchased a please look after me bean bag for my young baby girl from mothercare for £49.99 (currently on offer on the mothercare website for £39.99 )it is really soft and great from newborn up untill around 6 months of age,or 9kgs in weight, the bean bag its self is brown with the please look after me pattern on,it has a safety strap to hold baby in place, the beans in the bag themself are made out micro balls which mould to your babys shape and support the baby really well.
WHAT I THOUGHT
i found this bean bag great for the early days when baby was tiny but as she grew she would wiggle and the button on the safety strap would sometimes undo itself leaving her not safely straped in,i stopped using mine when she was around 5 months old and could move a bit more,it is quite expensive for how long you actually use it for, but it looks very stylish and would last well if you was to have more children.
One of the support groups I go to has these Baby Bean Bags from Mothercare. They are called 'Please look after me' which is so cute and so apt. They are a great design and you can put your baby on it safely knowing that they will be safe and secure and REALLY comfortable. My son loves it when I put him on the bean bag. I wish they had one in my size!
It is really thick and at a slight angle so they can look around easily. This is particularly good if you have a baby who is often sick after feeds. I often sat my baby up on my knee after a feed to try to stop any sick and to help him digest but because babies have such poor control, it is difficult to keep them still.
I would have loved to have had one at home. It would have been so useful. However, I do think that you would not get a lot of value for money due to the simple fact that as soon as your baby can turn over, or even before that really just in case, you would not want to use it in case they roll over.
This is a total MUST for anyone with a new baby! We used ours all the time when my little one was little.
With a washable cover - it is so practical too. Its easy to wash and put back on - we had to do it many times due to our very messy baby.
I found it great for after feeds as it kept my baby slightly upright which really helped with her reflux. Also its just such a handy place to safely put your baby when they are not ready for a sleep.
The positon was also great for when she became fascinated with the TV. She always looked so comfortable in her bean bag and would lay there for ages quite happily.
It has travelled all round the country with us - and was as essential as packing nappies and bottles. I wonder what we would of done without it - where would we have put her if we hadn't had this very handy product?
Now that our daughter is bigger and can roll it's been packed away for our next one.
I would definitely reccomend this bean bag - its very good value compared to similar products on the market and I am sure like us - once you have used it you will wonder how you survived without it!
Suitable for babies up to 6 mths. Crotch strap safety harness to keep baby secure and in place.
