Advantages: You can swim yourself

Disadvantages: there are a few!

When Noah was a baby, I wanted to make sure I gotinto the habit of taking him swimming on a regular basis. Whilst I was at the pool the first time, I noticed a baby in one of these and decided to purchase one.

The product is basically an inflatable seat that you sit your baby in so that you don't have to spend the whole swimming session holding them. The seat has three 'blow up' points; two being the outer rings and one being the back support for the baby. I purchased mine from Tesco's and it cost me £12 which was a few quid cheaper than Argos and Mothercare where they are also stocked.

I find that the seat blows up easily and it doesn't take much breath before each layer is ready to go.

The seat is made out of a strong rubber which, despite being pulled around and dragged here, there and everywhere, has kept in perfect shape and has no holes or needed to be repaired in any way.

Putting Noah in and getting him out was a bit of a struggle at times. I found that his leg would get caught on occasions so it was easier if dad was around to help. Getting him out was a laugh and a half; I would pick up up and like a bin bag in a bin, the seat would stick to his body. I would then need to use my knee or chin to steady the float while I pulled Noah into the air. He wasn't a big baby infact he was a little 'dink' so I can't imagine what it's like for someone who has a chunkier baby.

As far as 'support' goes, I can't knock it. Both Noah's body and head were supported even when he was tiny.

This seat was a god send when I was taking Noah swimming on a regular basis because it served more than one purpose. Yes, Noah was very well supported in every way but I found that I could swim using it as a support which meant that I was working out as well instead of standing around and getting cold.

My only critisms of the seat is the fact that it's quite bulky when blown up and takes up a lot of room in the car. You can blow it up when you get to the pool but this isn't always easy when you have an baby in one hand who is impatient. The other thing is that I found that Noah couldn't reach the water very well. When he got bigger and more interested in splashing, it was a bit of a struggle for his hands to reach over the 'tyres' and get to the wet stuff. I would end up either pushing the front down so he could reach or taking him out every now and again.

Over all I would recommend this product but I would suggest that you borrow one off a friend because as with all baby things, it was outgrown within a year and was of no use to us.

Summary: A great little device but it doesnt last long!
