Advantages: Supports your child in the swimming pool. Hard wearing
Disadvantages: Can be tricky to get your child into it
My little girl seems to be bit of a water baby; she absolutely loves her baths so recently we decided that we would take her swimming. I started to have a look on the internet at some rings that we could sit her in, most of them seemed to be quite bulky (far to big for a little girl), so I ended up looking around my local town but nowhere had any in stock.
As a last resort I went to my local swimming pool as someone had said they sell hats and armbands etc and sure enough they had some rings in stock so purchased on immediately.
The ring I bought was a Zoggs Trainer seat; they are available for children 3 - 12 months and 12 - 18 months. I bought the 3 - 12 months which has a max weight of 11kg and a height range of 65 - 75 cm, it cost me £9 which I thought was a great price as most of the others I had seen where £12 and up.
The seat some in a cardboard box (but be warned once opened you will never get it back in the box), the ring is bright orange with blue writing, it has three separate parts to blow up - the outer ring, inner ring and head rest, I guess they have done it like this so if one goes down your child should still stay afloat.
The ring is 68cm wide and the part your child sits in is 28cm wide so there is plenty of room for them to move around a bit. It is made out of a strong rubber which seems to be heard wearing (it survived a 7 year old and 4 year old pushing and pulling it). Mine has been blown up now for two weeks and there is no sign of it needing extra air yet.
I personally don't think the ring is too bulky, compared to some I have seen in the pool its one of the smaller ones. I guess it has to be a reasonable size to enable it to hold a 12 month old baby.
At the moment the head rest is a bit pointless as my girl tends to lean forward and rest her arms on the front of the ring but this may change as she gets a bit older. I find it can be a bit tricky getting her into the ring especially if she is in a wriggling mood, I tend to sit her on the ring itself whilst holding her with one hand I guide her legs into the hole with the other hand, it is a lot easier with two people though.
Overall I am pleased I bought this ring, my baby girl sits in it quite happy bobbing around, mostly leaning on the front and sucking her hands without a care in the world. I'm not sure how long she will use it for as she does tend to like splashing around and I think as she gets older she will prefer to be in the water (being held) rather than in the ring where she wouldn't be able to reach the water.
Summary: A great seat for taking you child swimming in, not as bulky as others and lasts up to 12 months old
