Morrisons Baby Lotion
by cyberem78
I was shopping a few months ago when a price tag on the shelf in the baby section caught my eye. This particular product, Morrisons Baby Lotion, along with a few other shop's own items in the baby range were reduced to only 9p (was on special offer but prices are usually between 9p and 36p) ! I figured at that low price I might as well ... try it. I often buy baby products to use for various things. I like using baby shampoo on my hair as it's so mild and I buy baby wipes to use on my dogs! The only other baby lotion I've used in the past would be the Johnson's brand which I quite like.
This product come in a 500ml sized white plastic bottle. The bottle is recyclable after use and has a top which can be removed by unscrewing. The top is fitted with a tight flip top. This is quite a firm top but there is a little lip on the top which means it's easy to prise open. The plastic of the bottle is a soft plastic which tends to warp and suck inwards as you use the lotion up. The softness of the bottle means it's easy to squeeze out the lotion.
There is a label on the front which is obviously designed for shop's own basic products. This shows a cute pink rabbit toy and the M-Savers brand mark along with the weight of the product below this. A label on the back of the bottle provides full ingredients, directions for use, warnings, recycling information and brand contact details.
The lotion is a pale pink colour and it can be dispensed easily from the bottle. It is of a medium to thin consistency. You can squeeze it out onto an area of skin and it will keep it's shape until you rub it in. It feels soft and smooth when you work it into the skin. It does not require much rubbing for as you begin to work it in it feels much thinner and as if it has a watery base to it's formula. This means the actual process of applying does not feel very luxurious due to the texture of the lotion. It does feel cool and refreshing though.
The lotion has a typical baby product fragrance which is like talcum powder and sweet pulped fruit. It is a very nice fragrance and very mild. I think both sexes could use this baby lotion.
It dries on the skin after absorbing and does not leave you feeling damp or sticky. You can dress immediately after application. It has an immediate effect on skin. It softens skin and it feels like it has a slightly powdery residue on the surface of the skin which is soft and silky. The lotion works well on areas that are already soft like the belly or bum but on areas that are naturally more dry like knees, elbows and knuckles it does not provide enough hydration and can not soften skin to the degree which suits me.
I bought this in winter time and quickly realised that it was too light a moisturiser to be able to care for my skin in the harshness of winter elements. However, I have been using it more lately as the weather warms up. It's quite a handy lotion to 'top up' with during the day as it's so light and easy to apply. I don't like using it on harder skin areas especially places like the feet as it feels far too watery and is ineffective in softening the skin. However I like to put it on my arms, legs and chest.
I would buy this again although my choice is probably motivated more by the price of the product rather than it's benefits since I have other light body lotions that are more suitable for me and more enjoyable to use. However I would recommend adult females trying it for themselves as well as their babies since a woman can never have too many body lotions! You'll also probably never find anything cheaper than this in any other store! Read the complete review |

Tesco Value Fragranced Nappy Bags
by myloh
I'm reviewing Tesco Value range nappy disposal bags.
They come in packs of 300.
They measure 285 x 310(per bag) and my pack looks slightly different from the one depicted above, so I presume they've updated packaging.
First off,the only babies in our home at present are two toddlers I child-mind and thankfully both ... are beyond needing nappies.
So then, ***WHY***
As dog poop bags. We have a rescue dog called Kizzy and during her first few months with us getting her diet right and getting her 'settled' (she was VERY nervous) was a bit of a chore to say the least . Before choosing a dog we had made an over-enthusiastic trip to PETS AT HOME to stock up on doggy needs, and poop bags were included on the list . At £2+ for 50 they weren't TOO expensive, but we hadn't considered how many we'd need and PETS AT HOME is a bit of a distance from us, so we'd need to stock up with more than one pack on each shop there. £5-£10 per trip on poop bags is ridiculous and budget stretching on our limited funds.
Then I spotted nappy bags in tesco for 60p for 300 and thought "BINGO !"......and we've been using them ever since.
***USING***
The pack is very basic, you just open it up and they dispense like tissues...pull one out and the next one is ready for being pulled out next time. When walking kizzy I tend to keep three or four of these in my pockets ready for use,but rarely need more than one as she is a small and a 'one-poop per trip' dog most of the time, luckily. When needed to collect poop I pull a bag over my hand ,collect the poop and then pull the rest of the bag down over my hand ,so the bag is inside out and the poop is contained . You can tie the handles at the top, but I usually tie the whole bag in a knot near the top as there is never a massive amount in there, so there is lots of room for a firm knot to be tied.
The bags are lightly fragranced if that is important to you. We are fortunate because we have Dog Poop bins on our usual walk route,so they never get brought home to our bin anyway. It is a pleasant fragrance too (the bags, not the poop), not clinical, more like talcum powder.
***MY OPINION***
These are great and I'm so glad I found them because they have saved us money and will continue to. They DO get used for other bits and bobs around the house as well and really are quite useful for lots of things as you can imagine, especially now with the carrier bag tax in place in some areas which has massively reduced the number spare bags lying round in drawers etc in our home for using. Definitely not suitable for groceries though....far too thin and perfumed.
Yes, the PETS AT HOME ones are stronger and are dark so you can't see the contents ,but in reality if you are prepared to pick up poop then I hardly think seeing it being swung round safely contained in a bag will traumatise you.
While I would recommend them ,I would say NOT for large dog poops. The bags are quite thin and might not cope. You could try using them doubled up though, because I've seen other dog walkers do that. Worth a try, and at 60p a pk you can't go wrong really.
I hope this was useful and thank you for reading~~~Myloh. Read the complete review |

Tesco Value Fragranced Nappy Bags
by scooch12
We used to use a nappy dispenser bin to get rid of my daughter's dirty nappies but when she moved onto eating solids, her nappies changed (for the worse!) and I didn't like the idea of those being in the nappy bin festering away until it was emptied. I tried a few types of nappy sacks but have since stuck to using Tesco's everyday value ... nappy sacks for her used nappies, just because that's where we normally shop and they cost an amazing 35p for 300!
I feel that they are incredible value, I find one bag lasts up to two months and that's including sometimes double bagging the exceptionally bad nappies! The bags come packaged in a small white plastic wrapper that I just rip open at the top, although there are small perforated dots to rip along to help open at the right place. The bags are folded up compactly within the packaging. They are not so tight that makes it difficult to remove one bag at a time, at the most I find that two come out when I go to use one but sometimes that's because I'm in a rush to bag a smelly nappy and I grab at the pack quickly! Even then though, it's easy to pop the unused one back into the wrapper.
I've used other brands of nappy bags too (which have usually cost more for a smaller number of bags) and these Tesco value ones are thinner than most and feel smoother to the touch, but they definitely still do the job just as well, in fact I would say they are the best I've used. Even though I think they feel thinner than others, they are strong and hold a full nappy and 3 or 4 wipes very easily. They also have two handles that are long enough to tie into a double knot without getting close to the nappy.
The bags are scented - I've found in the past sometimes the scent isn't noticeable but with these the scent is quite strong and helps to mask most smells. I find that I need to double bag the worst nappies and even then there's sometimes still a little smell lurking but to be fair, I don't think any nappy sacks would be able to cope with the really bad nappies either! For a regular dirty nappy, the scent is enough so that it usually just overpowers the staunch.
I don't have a dog so I've never tried, but I assume these would be also quite handy to help scoop their poop up to bin if they were double bagged - I know the bags specifically for that job are usually thicker than these.
I would definitely recommend these nappy bags, they are such a good buy and for 35p they're worth a go. I rate them the full five stars as I'll be using them until we're onto toilet training!
