Tesco Nappies
by karlsm93
Although I mostly use reusable nappies on my little girl, there are times when I use disposable - I always use a pampers ultra dry at night, but I am quite prepared to try other non branded nappies for use during the daytime, when the reusables are being washed or we are away for the day! I would very often purchase Pampers Simply dry ... range for nappies during the daytime, however a while ago when Tesco had offers on all their nappies, I thought I would try their own brand. I am currently purchasing a size 4+ nappy for my little girl, which contains 44 nappies, costing almost £6, but there is another offer on at present with two packs for a tenner. A lot of pennies saved in comparison to the leading brands!
Tesco ultra dry nappies come in a variety of sizes from 3 to size 6. They claim to have an ultra absorbent core with an extra dry layer. Tesco also claim to have super stretchy sides to make the fit more comfortable and offer a snug fit. These nappies have been designed to be suitable for day and night and with the absorbency they are meant to be ideal for growing babies/toddlers who wriggle, grow and drink a lot more.
I have never tried these nappies at night, as even the odd night, my daughter has still leaked even in a pampers baby dry, so I really wouldn't like to chance a different nappy, particularly as my daughter drinks a lot during the day, and still has a decent amount of milk before bedtime. So my experience with these nappies is purely during the day, where unless there a nappy is dirty, I don't tend to change it for three to four hours. Following these approximate changing times, there has never been any kind of leakage with these nappies. My toddler seems perfectly comfortable in these nappies, has never complained of being wet and they do seem to absorb well.
Apart from being absorbent, I also like the look of these nappies - not that it is terribly important, but I actually think these nappies look better quality and are much much thicker than the Pampers Simply dry and would now be much more inclined to purchase a pack of these Tesco nappies over the Pampers basic range.
All in all, I really cannot complain about these nappies at all. Albeit I can't give me experience with these nappies at night, but certainly during the day they are as absorbent and comfortable as the leading brands of nappies - so why pay more?! Read the complete review |

Mamia Baby Wipes
by angelboouk
~Mamia Baby Wipes~
Mamia is a baby product brand which is exclusive to Aldi stores. They offer two types of baby wipes - fragranced and unfragranced. I will be discussing the fragranced baby wipes. These baby wipes have won a few awards including a Mother and Baby Gold award in 2012/13.
These baby wipes are ... presented in a green, plastic packet which cannot be recycled. The packet has a plastic lid to keep the baby wipes fresh and moist. Aldi state that these baby wipes have been dermatologically tested and contain chamomile and aloe vera to keep skin soft and smooth. These baby wipes are suitable for being used during nappy changes, at feeding time and after play time to keep your babies skin clean and fresh. It is recommended that you dispose of these wipes with your rubbish and they really shouldn't be flushed.
~Price and Availability~
These baby wipes are only available from Aldi and currently cost 89p for a packet of 80 wipes.
~Our Experience~
Despite my son being five years old, I still buy baby wipes and we use them as a family. On our last day in Blackpool, we were having an ice cream and this resulted in sticky hands! I normally buy Asda baby wipes but with there being no Asda in sight, I needed to find an alternative. I spotted an Aldi store so headed in to see what they had. A new Aldi store is due to open in our town in 4 weeks time and these wipes are definitely something that I will be repurchasing there.
The packaging is very much like pampers in design. I like baby wipes to have the plastic lid as I feel that this stops the wipes from drying out so quickly. I purchased these 6 days ago and we are still using them for various cleaning tasks. The wipes are loosely stacked together and it is a simple task to just remove one or two rather than half a packet. Each wipe is a good size - probably bigger than Johnson's and are white in colour with a fun star and flower print design. The wipes have a medium thickness and are durable. Each wipe is made of perfectly soft cloth and of a good quality. The wipes aren't soaking wet but they do feel nicely moist and remain this way providing the plastic lid is shut over properly. Our wipes are still moist and haven't dried out in the 6 days we have been using them.
Whilst my son is no longer in nappies, he does favour wipes over toilet paper in the toilet though I am trying to encourage him to use toilet paper ahead of going to school in August. I must admit, I am the same and whilst it isn't recommended that you flush these wipes, I do it and have had no issues. The wipes are the perfect size and thickness for after-toilet cleaning and feel very soft and gentle against little (and big!) bottoms - no issues at all and you do not need to use a bundle of wipes to clean yourself..one or two will suffice. They do not leave skin feeling damp either which is a bonus. They leave your delicate areas feeling refreshed and clean. The wipes have a very light and clean scent which isn't unsimilar to Pampers. I personally prefer the scent of our usual Asda wipes which are only 11p more expensive per pack.
These wipes have mainly been used for cleansing skin if it becomes sticky. After our ice creams, we found these wipes to be very effective at ridding our skin of any sticky residue and then disposing off them in the nearest bin. They hold up well when used to scrub skin and haven't caused any discomfort or irritation to my families sensitive skin. I used them to clean my son and nephews faces and any chocolate or sauce marks are quickly removed with no issues. Both my son and nephew have very sensitive facial skin and neither has experienced any redness or soreness from their faces being wiped over.
My final use for these baby wipes is cleaning up spills and dust. These wipes are very effective at removing dust and marks from my furniture and the dust especially clings to the wipe and is swept away with no issues. I find these cheap enough to use for cleaning compared to Johnson's or Pampers baby wipes. Regardless of how I use these baby wipes, they have held together well with no sign of falling apart. They are of a decent quality when compared to branded baby wipes.
~Conclusion~
I do still prefer my usual Asda baby wipes but these are a good alternative and very cheap. They are kind to skin and durable as well as being versatile. I like that they are just moist enough to perform various tasks without being soaking wet and they leave skin feeling soft, smooth and free from dirt or residue. The packet is quite large compared to other brands but still neat enough to be stored in a changing bag or under a pram as you never know when you will need to wipe something over on the go! Our pack still has several wipes in it and the pack seems to be never ending! I recommended these baby wipes.

Huggies Soft Skin Wipes
by emmad5689
We use lots of baby wipes in our house with 2 young children one of which is struggling with potty training and of course they both forever seem to have sticky fingers! I have found recently that Asda are selling 4 packs of the Huggies wipes for £3.50 which makes them near enough as good value as Asda's own brand so I have been buying ... these each month.
These wipes are packaged differently than the picture above as they have changed the colours of the packets which I think helps you spot the ones you want easily, these ones are a deep peach in colour and then the Aloe version is now in a green packet. The packet has a cute looking baby on the front and states that they contain shea butter which is natures moisturiser.
The wipes have a pull back plastic bit on the top of them which reseals to keep the wipes moist whilst you use the full packet, when you first use your wipes pull this back very carefully as it does rip the packet rather easily and then of course this leaves a gap in the packet and allows the wipes to dry out.
The wipes are created by Kimberley Clark and there are details for contacting the company on the back of the packet if you need them, it states on the back of the packet that these wipes can be open for 3 months.
The packet contains 64 wipes and each on is a white rectangle and very soft, the wipes are imprinted with little bears and paw prints which is cute but as far as I can see totally unnecessary. The wipes are nice and moist at the top of the pack and get a little more moist the further down the pack you go but they are not too wet by the bottom. The wipes smell lovely which I guess is the Shea butter and the smell stays a little on the skin too which is lovely.
The wipes are really thick and they don't tear by accident but if you want to tear one in half which I often do when just cleaning sticky hands they will tear down the middle very easily. The wipes are nice and gentle on the skin and neither of my girls have had any reactions to them or any soreness from using them at all. The wipes clean the girls up well and are suitable for use all over the body, I would give these 5 stars as they do the job perfectly, the packaging is useful and they are great value.
