Hooded Baby Towel and Mit
by Chippytarka
Before my first child was born, I was lucky enough to get some gifts from friends in work for my impending baby.I was extremely happy to find alot of these gifts were practical rather than things that wouldnt be used. One of which was a hooded towel with matching mitt. It was from Asda ( as it had the George logo on the tag ), and after ... recieving this I bought acouple more from Asda, also Primark and Tesco. The one I bought from Asda cost £3.50 at the time.
What does the towel look like and how do you take care of it?
The towel was ( its getting on abit ) white in colour with grey and white very thin border around the edges which is doubled over giving the effect of piping. Hooded, with a grey outlined bunny over the hood area and matching bunny on the front of the towel mitt. Towel is 24 x 24 inches and the mit 7.5x4.5inches in length and width.
100% cotton.Wash at 40 degrees. Iron on the lowest setting but not on motif.Wash similar colours together.
Why use a hooded cotton towel for baby?
Firstly, cotton is a natural fibre which means it naturally is more gentle on the skin than something that isnt. Its absorbant, easy to clean and very soft.
I think its important for a young babies/children to have their own towel because its made specifically for them. Its just the right size to cover their bodies, the hood keeps their head warm and makes it easier to dry hair and alot of these towels have very cute child like motifs/designs on them to give a sense of fun which to be fair, most towels we use as adults are not quite like that.
The mitt is a great idea as you can place your hand in it, and this gives you the perfect control in regards to washing little faces e.g how softly to wash/wipe. Also, because its a mitt rather than a sponge, it can reach in all little areas that may not be that easy to reach such as the ears, behind the ears, noses etc. Another added bonus is the mitt is washable and only really needs to be replaced due to wear and tear.I have never used the mitt on my childrens bodies as they have sponges for that, but use mitts on their face to ensure I can clean them thoroughly from the neck up.
What do I think of this product?
I think that alot of the supermarkets out their do a very good job in regards to good quality and competitively priced items for baby. Many moons ago everyone would buy all their essentials for baby from stores such as Mothercare, and you would be paying at least double for the same itme as you would while buying your fruit and veg and throwing one of these in your basket.
Considering that this towel I have reviewed is 4 years old is a testament to its quality and indurance as my son still uses it to this day. It dries him still very well, it has held its shape ( and the mitt also ). No holes, no obvious wear and tear. The only thing that has changed is the colour and the softness. Its not quite as soft as what it originally was, but by no means is it rough on the skin. The colour, once white, is now off white/grey, but you would expect that considering the age of it.
My son is obviously alot bigger now than when a baby but the towel still is a decent size ( probably not for much longer ) and the added bonus now is he puts the hood section over his head, and runs around pretending to be a superhero! A very cheap superhero outfit in my books.
Would I buy again? Yes, if needed.I have loads of these towels between my son and his sister so wouldnt need any anytime soon, but I think this is a great addition to a baby shower gift box or just an item in general bought for a baby.It really has stood the test of time and considering how much it cost, its done well!
Great cheap buy. Read the complete review |

Asda Little Angels Cotton Wool Buds
by Holland1
Last time I was doing an online shop with Asda, I bought some of their Little Angels cotton buds to replace the ones I had run out of. I use cotton buds for various beauty regimes such as tidying up nail varnish when applying, and although I know you're not supposed to, I also use them to (carefully) clean inside my ears. My husband ... also uses them for this reason, which is why I think we get through so many.
The box contains 200 buds, and currently costs 35p from Asda. The box is plastic and has a lid which lifts off, although I tend to find that the lid doesn't ever sit quite right on top of the box once you've opened it, which is something I have found with other brands too. Still, the lid allows the buds to be kept clean and protected until you come to use them. The advantage of having them lying flat in a box instead of standing upright in a tub like some brands, is that you don't have to touch the cotton bud part to get them out of the packaging. I'm sure this doesn't make that much difference in the grand scheme of things, but I feel it's a little more hygienic if, for example, you were then to use the bud to blend eye make-up.
The buds themselves are standard sized, measuring around three inches long. The main part of the bud is a white colour, almost transparent, and obviously the ends have cotton wool attached to form the buds. I have found these to be of excellent quality in use, with the main part of the bud being strong enough not to bend or buckle, and the buds to be soft yet sturdy. I made the mistake of buying ultra cheap buds once, and the cotton wool part just started fraying and creating fluff as soon as I tried to use them. With these, the cotton wool is wound tightly on the end, so there's no chance of losing any in your ear, or getting a load of cotton wool attached to your nail varnish when touching up your nails.
I would definitely purchase these buds again. They're good value, and I can't say there's much difference between this and the leading brands.

ASDA LIttle Angels Potty
by emmad5689
We are currently trying to potty train our 2 year old daughter, we had a sit on potty from our eldest daughter but Emily didn't like it so I decided to try a more traditional potty and had a look for one in our local Asda store when I was doing my weekly shop. I was actually really surprised to find that the potty only costs 99p which is ... fantastic value and I wasn;t too bothered if she didn't like the potty for that price.
This potty is part of the Little Angels range which is Asdas own baby range so this one can only be bought from Asda although obviously you can buy basic potties from many different stores. The potty is made of hard plastic and is a sort of creamy white in colour, it is a sort of oval shape with a bit which comes up between the childs legs and of course the middle is dipped into a pot to collect the childrens output.
The potty came just as it is with no packaging which I think on a lot of products is a complete waste anyway, on this potty at the front there is simply a sticker with the name of the company and a barcode for them to charge you with.
Getting Emily to sit on the potty was actually pretty easy once I bribed her with a sweet since she has a very sweet tooth, once we had managed to get her to sit on the potty we told her that if she used the potty she would get a sweet and suddenly she was trained, amazing what bribery can achieve.
As it has been so easy to get Emily to sit on the potty we have found that she is never really sat on it for any length of time so she never has any red marks from the potty which I know can be an issue from with my elder daughter. Emily is happy to sit on the potty so it can't be uncomfortable and she also loves to carry it around by the carry handle on the back of it so we have to watch and make sure we empty the potty as soon as she has used it.
The potty is easy to empty and there are no spillages from it, it is also really easy to clean too and I have found even though it is really cheap I doesn't really feel like a cheap potty. I would recommend this potty to all who are about to embark on potty training as it is ideal for the job. Read the complete review |
