Jackson Reece Herbal Natural Baby Wipes
by Red51 When I was pregnant I decided to try and be eco friendly using the most natural products I could find. When looking through the massive aisle in Tesco's with different baby wipes, I already knew I wasn't going to buy the usual J&J or pampers chemical ridden wipes, I don't use chemicals on my sensitive skin & I'm ... definitely NOT going to use chemicals on my baby's delicate skin! I initially picked up the Nature Babycare wipes (see my other review) and then I saw the Jackson Reece wipes. I had never heard of the brand previously so I was sceptical, so I picked up both. ~ Ingredients ~ A lot of the wipe state "pure" "sensitive" "hypoallergenic" but still contain harmful chemicals, eg Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Parabens, PEG's, Laureths etc. When you look at the ingredients in the Jackson Reece it set my mind at ease: Aqua, Betaine, Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice (Aloe vera), Caprylyl/capryl glucoside (vegetable derived), sodium levulinate, Glycerin (vegetable derived), Parfum (allergen free), Potassium sorbate (naturally occurring preservative), Lavandula angustifolia (lavender), Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree oil) When I searched for the ingredients on EWG Skin deep database, all ingredients had a 0-1 score (low risk) apart from Potassium sorbate which was a 3 - because of some allergy concerns and Parfum - which was not on there, but Jackson Reece state that the parfum is allergen free so I presume this is tested and safe. I was looking through the ingredients of Pampers sensitive wipes & came across the ingredients: - PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil - risk rating of 4 - 6 another chemical restricted concentration for cosmetics & not for use on damaged skin - Benzyl Alcohol - risk rating of 6 - causes allergic affects - Phenoxyethanol - risk rating of 3-4 which is classified as an irritant & restricted for use in Japan, it is also classified as toxic or harmful when used around the mouth and lips - so don't wipe your baby's face! - BIS-PEG/PPG-16/16 PEG-PPG-16/16 Dimethicone, which states that is not for use on damaged skin with a rating of 3-6 moderate risk ~ Packaging ~ The wipes come in a plastic packaging & I could not find any hard packaging which you get with some baby wipes. The packets are a bold green with leaf pattern, playing on the "natural" selling point with a cute little baby smiling in the corner. The pack comes with a re-sealable label on the top which opens to pull out the wipes then reseals to keep in the moisture. There is a bit of a problem with the way the wipes are folded, as when you pull one out, the next one is meant to pop up for next time, but I have found this happens in groups, but sometimes you pull and get 5 come out in one, or have to dig around for the next one. ~ Product ~ The wipes have a fresh clean scent, not too sweet or floral which you can get with some of the other brands. You can smell the lavender & aloe vera mainly. There is a fragrance free option. The wipes are relatively large and normally only need to use one or two for a pooey bum (and my little girl is a big pooper!), they are quite moist and are good at cleaning off sticky hands as well as bum, but not too wet where you have to dry afterwards. It leaves her bum soft and not sticky. I have never had any instance of nappy rash. ~ Availability ~ This is one of the problems points. They usually cost around the £2 - £2.40 mark. You can buy these from larger Tesco's stores, but I cannot get them online shopping, Mothercare in the shops and online stock them (£2), they are also available at John Lewis (£2.39), Sainsburys (£1.98). But they are not in Boots! Amazon does have them, but they are £5 per 72! ~ Would I recommend ~ I love these wipes, they are the best I have found. They are biodegradable so wont stay in the landfill for decades. They are natural and contain no harsh chemicals, which are safe for my little one & doesn't cause any nasty irritation or nappy rash. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who wants to use disposable wipes. However, I am going to go one step further on my eco mission, as I have been using reusable nappies, I am going to invest in some washable wipes, which should save me money in the long run. But for those people that washables are not an option, these are a great eco bio-degradable natural option. Read the complete review |

Infacare Ultra Mild Baby Bath
by PerfectPeaches Before coming out to Tenerife I tried to pack as sensibly as possible even though my range of shoes alone takes up quite a lot of room! However, when travelling with a very young child a lot of equipment comes with them and as I was travelling by myself (meeting family at the airport in Tenerife and my other half flying out 5 days later) ... I wanted to make sure I could manage until my beloved other half came out with other things I needed. Fortunately my cousin and her two year old son had already been out there for a few days and told me I didn't need to worry about toiletries (except nappies) for my daughter as she had plenty which was great for me as toiletries always take up a lot of room! By the time I landed and got back to the villa my daughter was ready for a bath and a nice long sleep so when I came to run her a bath instead of my usual Johnsons products I had to use InfaCare. I had always seen this in Wilkinsons in the baby aisle and normally by passed it I was a fan of Johnsons but as this was the only baby bath available I had to use it. *~* What is it? *~* InfaCare is an incredibly mild baby bath which has been specifically formulated to help protect and care for your baby's skin. It has been clinically tested to help care for delicate skin as well as having a pH balanced formula with nuturing emollients. *~* Who or what is InfaCare? *~* InfaCare is a brand name owned by P&G (Proctor and Gamble) who are a global company who produce a whole host of items. They were originally founded in 1837 and were a small, family run soap and candle making company and they are now found in 80 countries with over 130,000 employees and more than 300 branded products. Other household names you will be familiar with are Pampers®, Ariel®, Always®, Pantene®, Mach3®, Fairy®, Pringles®, Lenor® and Iams® to name just a few! *~* Packaging *~* InfaCare Ultra Mild Baby Bath comes in an inoffensive plain white plastic bottle which has a white flip top lid. On the front the main colour theme is blue with a little stick man type character on the front. The imaging and colours are incredibly simple - nothing over the top on this bottle! On the back there is the usual information on how to use it and the ingredients in the baby bath. *~* In Use *~* ~ Consistency ~ When I first used it I got far too much than I actually needed and my daughter ended up surrounded by mountains of white bubbles! It isn't as thick as I would have liked and is a lot more watery than you would expect so you do have to be careful when pouring it into the bath as you only need a little to get bubbles. InfaCare is a bright golden yellow colour which fortunately doesn't colour the bath water! ~ Aroma ~ What first struck me about the scent was that it reminded me of Johnsons baby shampoo which is quite a well known scent! The only difference being was that the InfaCare seemed a little sweeter than the Johnsons shampoo. The scent does remain once you have diluted it in the water but it becomes a little more subtle and gentle and a lot less sweet. ~ Bath Time! ~ To use you just simply pour it into running water and let the bubbles immediately froth up. One thing you are not short of is bubbles no matter how much or how little you use! The sweet subtle scent is nice in the background and doesn't remain on the skin once your little one has come out of the bath. I've been using this on a daily basis to give my daughter a bath before bedtime and even though she doesn't really suffer with dry skin now her skin has been left nicely moisturised after each bath. It hasn't irritated her skin or caused any reactions which for me is the main thing. Although I would like it to be a little thicker in its consistency I can't really complain about this baby bath whatsoever. It has a lovely scent which soon disappears, it creates lovely bubbles which my daughter is rapidly starting to love and play with and best of all it is delicate enough for her skin. It doesn't break the bank either and because you only need a little of it especially for a baby the bottle will last for quite sometime. Definitely a recommendation for both parents and babies! *~* Price and Availability *~* Tesco - £1.79 Sainsburys - £1.79 Boots - £1.93 The InfaCare Ultra Mild Baby Bath comes in a 400ml bottle and is also available to buy at various other stores and chemists. *~* Ingredients *~* Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Sodium Citrate, Parfum, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Benzyl Alcohol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Polyquaternium-10, Cl 61570, Cl 19140, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Isoeugenol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional. *~* Recommendation? *~* Without a doubt I'd definitely recommend this. It won't cost a fortune and will last a long time as you only need to use a little for it to go a long way. Is kind and caring on delicate skin which is the main thing. Definitely a product worth trying by any parent or even anyone who has sensitive skin. Read the complete review |

Infacare Ultra Mild Baby Bath
by lulu2004 For those of us out there who have a little one with sensitive skin, buying products can lead to total confusion. And heaven forbid that you buy the wrong one. Just one turn in a bubble bath that doesn't agree with your child's skin, can lead a weeks worth of eczema for the baby. Although it's rarely the parent's fault. You just cannot ... begin to imagine the guilt that you will feel if you change products and the new one causes a flare up for your baby. For the past two years we have had to be very mindful of the products that touch my daughter's skin. From washing powder to babywipes, everything has to be vetted. She's about to turn two in a couple of weeks and this past six months has seen her almost grow out of her allergies, but we remain mindful. I had been getting on really well with the 'Halos n Horns' baby bath, but Tesco were out of it on my last shopping trip so I had to take a quick scan over what else was on offer. After reading the blurb on Infacare I decided to take it. The fact that it was pH-balanced and Ultra-mild was what swayed me. As well as that. The clean white bottle always wins me over when it comes to products. It looked fresh and clean compared to some of the alternative products on the shelves. ------------------------ What InfaCare Say ------------------------ The back of the bottle has a brief description about how InfaCare does more than just clean your baby, it protects and cares for the skin too. It has been clinically tested to prove that it is gentle on babies delicate skin and it is formulated not to irritate the skin. Now, personally, I would say that if you have a baby who has very severe bouts of irritation, then I would not trust any bottle. Our little one is a toddler now and can withstand chemicals that she couldn't originally so I did have a feeling that she would be safe enough with InfaCare. But if I had been purchasing this when she was a newborn I would have had to be more careful. I would recommend putting the tiniest little dot into your bath water just to test it, then building it up when you are sure that there will be no reaction to the bubble bath. ------------------------------------------- And most importantly... Is it nice!? ------------------------------------------- When you squirt the InfaCare into your bath, you will find that it is green. Again, for me, I don't like baby products to be green! Or any colour in fact! I prefer her products to be clear as usually anything that has a colour irritates her a little. But InfaCare was different. The green colour must be natural as it had no effect on her skin. When you squirt it out a little will go a long way. It is thick and luxurious. One squirt in a bath will give enough bubbles to keep a small child occupied. You sometimes find with sensitive baby baths that there aren't many bubbles. The detergent can be an irritant, but there are plenty with InfaCare. The scent is the typical smell that you would associate with a baby bath. It's that lovely baby smell, and it makes it's way through the house when I prepare a bath for my daughter. ---------------- Ingredients --------------- I'm not one for listing ingredients in reviews, but when it comes to skin sensitivity, it is really very important. So here goes... Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Sodium Citrate, Parfum, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Benzyl Alcohol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Polyquaternium-10, Cl 61570, Cl 19140, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Isoeugenol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional If you are aware of any of these ingredients causing trouble for your child in the past then you should steer clear of InfaCare. -------------- Conclusion -------------- While I do prefer the Halos N Horns range of baby products, I am really very happy with InfaCare. It has now become my second choice of bubble bath for my toddler as all in all, it is a great little product. At £1.90 for 400ml a little goes a long way and it has been going strong for a couple of weeks now, with plenty still left in the bottle. If you are having trouble finding a baby bath for your youngster then InfaCare is certainly worth a shot. Read the complete review |
