I was recommended Andrex Washlets by a friend as way to feel extra fresh during the time of my periods when I was going through a series of heavy ones. they are flushable moist toilet tissues, which are intended to be used alongside regular tissue. I paid one pound for a pack of 42 sheets in Poundland.
These are a bit like a wet wipe for adults and normally I don't think I would have thought to picked them up, as something not really necessary. But I have actually found them both effective and useful. The packet is resealable and keeps the contents perfectly fresh and ready to use. I would have found a small pocket pack useful for carrying with me as the full size was a bit bulky to carry discretely in my smaller handbags, although it is no worse than a pack of wet wipes. The wipes are easy to pull out and re-seal on the plus side. Each one is the size of a couple sheets of regular toilet paper, and comfortably thick and soft. They are quite strong and I feel confident they won't fall apart in use.
The wipes are moist rather than wet but they are damp enough to clean very effectively. They don't feel sticky at all. I didn't realise these were scented and in general I avoid using such products in intimate areas because I feel they may not necessarily be healthy in the long term. I may be wrong about that, and I understand many will feel the light clean scent adds to a feeling of freshness. I like the fact the scent is subtle and not intrusive anyway.
The wipes are biodegradable and flushable but as they feel thick, I worried they would block the loo, even if not having to find somewhere to dispose of used wipes is convenient. Well I have managed to flush one at a time without trouble but on the rare occasion I felt I should use two, I prefered to bag and bin them, just in case. They may biodegrade but I wonder how long that takes.
I have not suffered any irritation from using these, and they are dermatologicaly tested. I have a preference for unscented products so I will look for an alternative but I would recommend these if you don't mind a light scent. They are convenient and an easy way to feel extra clean.
Westerners are often shocked to find that in many countries toilet paper is not used, instead soap and water is deployed post defecation. In turn, people from cultures who are used to this can be shocked that we resort to dry paper that can rip, tear and (there is no delicate way to put this) may not leave you entirely squeaky clean. There is a lot to be said for soap and water but I don't think many people will be dropping the loo roll from the shopping list any time soon.
Enter Andrex washlets. These are moist toilet wipes which, I guess, developed as an evolution of baby wipes. They are a very similar product. They are not designed to replace dry tissue, rather they are designed to be used afterwards. The pack is remarkably coy about usage however the tv advertising campaign has been less so as women are shown being harangued to try these and experience a new type of clean.
The benefit is improved cleanliness and fresher feel. The wipes are a reasonable size, soft and have a fresh scent. The dispensing pack is good with a firm seal that keeps its stick to avoid the wipes drying out. There are 42 in the pack. In terms of disposal, Andrex claim they are flush able in small numbers 'one or two at a time'. Forgive my cynicism here but Dyno rod are expensive so I'll not be trying this whilst I have a bin in my toilet. They are also meant to be biodegradable. As an added bonus, I note they are made in the uk.
The washlets are a welcome addition to my bathroom. Easier than taking a shower, better than just dry tissue. A baby wipe or childrens moist toilet tissue may be an alternative if on offer. One word of warning - be sure not to get these confused with hard surface wipes - the product and pack look very similar!
I buy toilet wipes because I find them useful for wiping the toilet at the times after I have actually cleaned my toilet and need to just wipe the toilet clean after a little accident by my little grandson. I find they are handy for the bathroom and to just take one out of the packet to give a quick wipe.
These wipes come in a plastic wrapper, it has a pull back strip and has the name clearly on the front and so easy spotted on shelves. Andrex is an excellent brand and one I find really reliable and it delivers what it states on the packet. The strip is easy to just pull back and then just press down again to keep the wipes fresh and moist.
With these wipes compared to a few other different brands, I find I can detect the smell immediately I pull back the strip. They have a really nice fragrance and one that smells of a really nice perfume. It is not an overpowering fragrance and is really pleasant in my opinion. They are easy to just pull out of the packet without having to tug them and more than one comes out of the packet, as I have often found other brands to do.
Each wipe is white in colour and rectangle shape. They are extremely strong wipes and quite thick. They have a really soft texture. I find I can hold the wipes comfortably to clean my toilet. They do not tear while using them. They are very durable and can be folded, scrunched or flattened if needed, for the wiping of the toilet etc. For cleaning bottoms they are soft enough to just wipe over it and they don't scratch, are designed to just clean the area without having to keep using toilet tissue and making the bottom sore if you are needing to use the toilet a little more often that day. We know when we haven't wiped very well and these wipes just give peace of mind that we have cleaned ourselves well enough and not having that feeling that we haven't cleaned too well. Especially with the little ones because they don't always clean well enough and these wipes are ideal to use just to make sure they are clean, also so that no irritations or rashes are left on the skin because of not cleaning the bottom very well. They also measure approximately 8 inches x 5 inches, so a good size.
It is easy to just wipe the toilet seat and clean the little accidents. My little grandson does often miss the toilet while trying use the toilet. He loves to be independent now he is just 4years old, but often just trickles a little onto the toilet seat and rim, just like all children. He also knowns when he has missed the toilet and likes to clean it himself, which is fabulous in my opinion because it shows he knows how to respect a toilet, unlike some male adults lol. I hope he will continue doing this when he is older and an adult himself lol. The wipes absorb very well even though they are moist, they wipe across the pot surface of the toilet so that it is clean and fresh, ready for the next person who uses it.
They are ideal also to use to clean the top of the toilet and the base of the toilet. Just for a little clean during the day after the main clean. I clean my toilet every single day because germs harbour and they are not pleasant as we all know only too well. These are idea for anyone who just likes to clean the toilet if they work and don't have the time in a morning to clean the toilet. Then to just give it a main clean at the end of the day.
There are 42 wipes in the pack, I bought them for only a £1 from Tesco's. I think this is an excellent price because the quality of the wipes is extremely good, they are fabulous value for this price in my opinion. They are often on special offer and wise to stock up when spotted on this offer.
What I like about these wipes is they are also flushable and so they can just be thrown into the toilet and flushed. It tells me on the back of the pack, that 2 wipes can be flushed at a time. I have flushed 2 wipes and they have always flushed really well but I just prefer to usually just flush one at a time, because I only usually have to use 1 wipe at a time.
They are really moist wipes and not too wet, they don't drip at all while using them and they also hold the moisture really well and don't dry in the time they are being used for wiping the bottom or the loo. They give a nice smell in the bathroom too and smell really fresh.
I also use them to wipe the bathroom door handle because handles are also a place germs harbour and I like to know that they are also clean so that I don't pick up any extra germs because I have a weak immune system.
I really highly recommend these wipes for anyone who likes to use wipes. I think they are excellent and worth every penny in my opinion. I will continue to buy these along with other brands for my toilet. They give me all the results I expect from a branded toilet wipe. Nice wipes to leave in the bathroom for those little accidents and ones that I think are very affordable. I don't think you would be disappointed in the quality of these wipes, they are fab and a worthwhile purchase.
Also on Ciao under my username pinky50.
I give these 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
Recently there has been a new advertising campaign by Andrex showing Dawn Porter in a camper van travelling around the UK visiting a different dempgraphic of people each time to test out their Washlets wipes. The idea is to convert the 'dry-wiper' and revolutionise the way we wipe after a trip for a number two!
Andrex is a British toilet tissue brand founded in 1942 being the first 2 ply tissue created. Since 1972 Andrex became well known for the Labrador 'Andrex puppy' and have filmed over 130 adverts with the dog. Now Andrex are owned by the American company Kimberly-Clarke and produce a variety of toilet tissue including the standard in a variety of colours; puppies on a role; shea butter; aloe vera; quilted and the washlets range.
Usually I use any standard low price baby wipes for my toilet hygiene but my mam bought these for me to try. The Washlets come in a baby blue and white plastic pack with a sticky cover to stop the wipes going dry. The pack itself is about 19.5cm long and 11cm across and the material is a number 7 not currently recycled in my area which is slightly disappointing for a brand as large as Andrex. However, the paper is endorsed by the FSC and is responsibly sourced.
The scent of the Washlets wipes is described as 'cotton fresh', to me the scent is very subtle which is nice for a personal wipe as I feel anything too harsh must contain something harsh which shouldn't be used. It is reassrungly described as PH neutral and dermatologically tested; I myself do have sensitive skin and after using the wipes for three weeks I have had no irritations at all.
Each wipe is white in colour and 17cm x 13cm folded over in the pack, they come out of the pack easily but sometimes more than one comes out. The wipe is moist but not wet which I felt was a bonus creating a clean fresh feeling and not a wet soggy one! There are 42 in the pack meaning 42 days of wiping.
Now the important bit, the wipes are flushable! Yes, finally toilet wipes which do not need to be handled more than necessary and unhygienically stored in the bin which can cause an awful stench. Andrex also decribe them as biodegradable so I do hope that my wipes are not tangling any sea creatures in the future.
In conclusion I think these wipes are a great idea, the moist feel is nice and does not leave baby wipe foam dripping from you ruining clothes or making you look incontinent. The wipes are strong and clean up well when put to the test. I do not only use the wipes for toilet time but also to freshen myself up on a hot day and with the light fragrance they work fantastically.
My mam told me these wipes cost £1.50 from Tesco which isn't too bad working out at 3.5p per wipe.
This is a review of Andrex Washlets which are a flushable moist toilet tissue I'll try to make this a 'clean' review as it's a bit of a sensitive subject.... In the past when my Mum has tried to give me packs of moist toilet tissue I have declined but having had a few erm issues whilst being on iron supplements with difficult bowel movements I decided to try the washlets.
The washlets are packaged in a plastic dispensing box which is quite discreet if you had it on display in your bathroom. Inside is a plastic pack of toilet tissue which I believe can be bought as a refil.
I bought two packs of these whilst on offer at £1.50 each which included the dispenser box but I think these are usually priced around £3. My purchase was made at Tesco.
The packaging has a cardboard wrap around which promises 'a new kind of clean' when you use these wipes.
Without being too graphic, the first thing I noticed about the wipes was the quality. For being flushable they are thick and substantial. It does feel a bit strange using a wet wipe after going to the loo but I do agree they really are effective at cleaning and kind if your behind is feeling a bit sensitive.
In addition to being a good solution if you are having difficult poos, I think these are great for ladies at the time of the month to use as well. Best bought when on offer though as a pack doesn't last all that long. I will buy these again in the future.
I buy Andrex Washlets for my family and me, to be used alongside the traditional toilet roll.
I buy my packs from 'Body Care' in my local town centre for a £1; I have seen these for sale in Wilko's and various other supermarkets for a lot nearer to the £2 mark. I find it is better to shop around for these wipes to try and get the best price.
The wipes come packaged in a nice compact pack, similar to baby wipes, the packaging is very discreet, the emphasis is on the name Andrex Washlets and then in smaller writing it says 'flushable toilet tissue wipes'. The packaging is mainly white with blue highlighting, and we are told that the wipes are pH neutral and dermatologically tested, sounds great for wiping those delicate areas.
A purpose made tub can be brought to place opened packs of wipes in, but I find that the sticky tab that covers the opening of the pack works really well. An open pack of these wipes stays moist for ages provided you reseal them.
Contained in the pack are 42 separate flushable wipes. It is advised that only one or two of the wipes should be flushed at one time.
The wipes themselves are a little larger than a sheet of toilet paper and are a lot thicker and softer than toilet paper, they are also moist. The wipes feel very soft on my skin and the moistness is just right, they don't leave me feeling damp. The scent of the wipes is fresh and clean, it is described on the packaging as cotton fresh, and they do smell like clean, damp washing fresh from the machine.
A pack 42 wipes can last my family of four anywhere between 4 to 6 weeks as we use them as an extra to toilet roll when the need arises. An open pack of wipes does not dry out and the first wipe is just as moist as the last wipe.
The wipes have not irritated any member of the families' skin; both my kids are prone to eczema, so I think they would also be great for toddlers to use after the toilet for that extra freshness.
I think a pack of the wipes would be a great addition to any holiday packing, just for extra freshness in warmer climates. When brought at full price I think they are a bit expensive but on offer or for a £1 I think they are great as they last ages and don't block the toilet.
Thank you for reading.
Andrex Washlets are flushable toilet tissue wipes that are pre-moistened to leave you feeling extra clean and fresh. Simply use one or two wipes along with your dry toilet tissue to help you feel extra clean. The washlets are dermatologically tested and are available in a moisture retaining tub and refill pack. The wipes are also flushable making them even more convenient to use. I saw these wipes advertise on the TV a few months ago, and thought they looked/sounded good. It wasn't until I was in my local Asda store buying some toilet tissue that I saw these and remembered the advert which prompted me to buy them.
~ PRICE/AVALIABILITY ~
I purchased a pack of washlets from my local Asda store for £1.94. You can also buy these from Sainsburys, Tesco, Ocado & Waitrose. Prices may vary in different stores.
~ PACKAGING ~
The washlets come in a light blue and white style packaging which have a plastic label on the top. This label peels back to allow you to take out a wipe and then re-seal it to keep the wipes from drying out. On the front of the label it states that the wipes are flushable and that they are cotton fresh. It also states that they are Skin pH Neutral and that they are dermatologically tested. On the back of the packaging it gives you more information about the wipes, a list of ingredients and contact information. It also states that the wipes are biodegradable.
~ THE WIPES ~
I used toilet paper as suggested on the packaging. I then used one of the wipes to give the extra clean and fresh feeling. The plastic label on the top of the packaging was easy to peel back, and revealed the white wipes which smelt, lovely and fresh. The label just sticks back into place to stop the other wipes from drying out. The wipe was easy to pull out of the packaging and you could feel how moist they actually were when taking a wipe out. You could smell the fresh scent from the wipes which was really pleasant. The wipes were cold, but felt soft and gentle. I only felt the need to use one wipe, so I didn't use anymore and the wipe flushed away easily with the toilet tissue. (It states on the packaging you can flush at least 2 wipes at one time.) Due to the wipes being moist and smelling fresh, this gave me a fresh, clean feeling that I wouldn't normally get with just using toilet tissue. As the wipes are dermatologically tested, they didn't irritate my skin.
~ OVERALL OPINION ~
The wipes are really good to have in your bathroom, and do leave you feeling clean and fresh. In terms of value I don't think they are too pricey, and are well worth buying. Being a lady and having certain times of the month, using these wipes make me feel really fresh and clean. They have a nice, light, fresh fragrance and didn't irritate my skin. As the pack is quite small, they are great for popping in your bag if you are going away on holiday or even going out for a day. I give these wipes 5 out of 5 stars and when they run out I'll be buying some more. I would highly recommend these washlets to others.
