Advantages: float, soft plastic

Disadvantages: can sink, diff to get water out of

We were given a pair of these for xmas last year I believe that they are meant for 12months plus. We call them our tug boats and float them round the bath. Callum is fascinated with them and starts kicking his legs and laughing when he spots them on the side of the bath.

The plastic is not too hard and makes them safe to teeth on when in the bath. Callum has waved them about hitting his head with them in the process and so far no tears. So to me the plastic is sturdy enough to with stand baby discovery but soft enough so not to cause harm. There are no rough edges on ours everything being rounded off.

They float well but be warned when putting them under water to make them bob up and suprise your child they very quickly feel up with water. Despite there being an area that you can squeeze the water out of, it is hard to get it all out and so consequently over time the boats will become useless and sink.

This can be avoided by not putting the boats under water.

They make our son laugh and to me that is what makes a good toy.
