Advantages: Cheap and cleans skin
Disadvantages: No real smell to it and no real skin benefits are given
I have very sensitive skin indeed that needs no real excuse to act up! It's not helped by the amount of perfumed products I use and showering/bathing as often I do. I guess I'm actually over the top with my cleaning and beauty regime to be honest with myself and you lol.
For this reason from time to time I do 'go back to basics'. I do buy unscented soaps or baby one's. My thinking is if a baby soap is gentle enough for a babies it's going to be for me too!
However the first time I used this soap was on my friends son. I was babysitting him, I bathed him and this was the soap in his bag to use on him his mother (my friend provided for me to use lol). After using it on him and perusing Asda I bought the same one as it's all they actually had that day on the shelves (in baby form) so I give you a review from a child's perspective (lol) and then the big kids one (mine lol).
The Packaging....
Light blue, oblong plastic packet. On the front in white and light blue writing I'm told it is Little Angels Soap and that it is 'a mild and gentle soap specifically formulated to gentle cleanse baby's skin without causing dryness'. At the bottom of the packet I'm told 'it's my bathtime', there is drawn on picture of what appears to be a little boy, I'm told it's Dermatologically and clinically tested and the weight is displayed (100g), ingredients are listed as are contact details for Asda (shops own product) and I'm told Asda is against animal tested and funds research into alternatives and there is a drawing of like a rabbit on there and a few white circles (that also adorn the front) and finally there is a bar-code on there. Simple straightforward packaging this is. The soap itself is white and quite thick and Asda Little Angels is engraved into one side along with a picture of a rabbit.
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Packet....
Caring for baby little angels mild and gentle soap has been specially formulated to cleanse baby's delicate skin without causing dryness. Caring for all the family this gentle baby soap is ideal for the whole family. Remember safety first keep out of reach of babies and small children.
Using It.....
Well as I have said the first person I used this on was my friends little boy (she usually uses this) in his bath. Ok he was filthy and I found this to lather up gently directly on to his skin with a very gentle fragrance I could barely detect. I sniffed the soap before I used it and it certainly had a stronger aroma when not in use than in it did when it was.
However it cleaned grease and grime and whatever greasy was all over his arms (lol) really well and he didn't seem at all bothered by it one bit. I was impressed at it's cleaning ability and the fact that even him splashing the water about with the soapy residue in it never seemed to upset his eyes and we had no tears or tantrums!
He was left with soft enough skin. I mean no different to usual, it didn't feel overly hydrated and/or moisturised but he looked clean and fresh to be sure, his skin wasn't dried out and the only thing lacking really was a fresh 'baby' smell'. He didn't really smell of anything but as I say I did feel he was clean.
Using it on me was much the same as on him really. I used it in the bath and in the shower and I found it to lather up rather quickly but it didn't feel overly rich or kind really. It just felt like it was doing a job. The smell once again was not really there though I did feel clean and fresh, found it easy to shave my bits and bobs with and when I finished I rinsed it off my skin easily leaving no feeling of residue and I felt fresh and clean. My skin (like my friends son) never felt dried out and wasn't really moisturised and all I can say is my skin was in the same condition as prior to washing with it really...although I was definitely cleaner!
Overall....
A decent soap apart from a lack of smell to it. It's ok to use and doesn't harm the skin and is as it says it is...mild and gentle. It works at cleansing the skin very well and is a real economy buy not just cos of the price it costs to purchase one but also cos it doesn't melt to mush when it sees water. It holds it's own and lasts a long time without crumbling or going to sludge and leaving nasty residue anywhere it shouldn't! A decent buy and worth a go!
Only available in Asda priced at 17p a bar.
Summary: Try it..and see it for yourself!
