Advantages: Nice Packaging, soft
Disadvantages: Not use for cleaning dirty bottoms
We don't have an Asda in our town, but there is one not that far away, so when out and about in the vicinity I do call in, and made a particular effort when I heard about the baby event on at the moment. We seem to go through a lot of baby wipes, as I keep some at my daughter's high chair, some in my changing bag and some at the changing mat, so I always keep an eye out for bargain wipes. So, when I saw the Asda Little Angels Fragrance Free Wipes at 87p for a pack of 64, I thought they were definitely worth a try.
These wipes come in a choice of either Fragrance free or fragranced but I much prefer the fragrance free where possible to avoid any adverse reaction with my daughter's skin. What I liked about these wipes, and it is the same with the Boots wipes, there is a plastic resealable lid, as opposed to the plastic pull back sticky tab, which often loses its stickiness and the top wipe can dry out. The packaging is eye catching and colourful, so it does catch your eye on the shelf and the price also helps!
On the front of these wipes, it states that these wipes are suitable for newborns, is hypoallergenic, and are 'soft and thick' with added aloe vera and baby lotion. The baby lotion has been added to help prevent the causes of nappy rash, and the aloe vera should help care for baby's skin.
The first time I used these wipes ending up being to clean a dirty nappy, so I got a chance straight away to see how effective they would be, and I was immediately disappointed. They didn't clean up my daughter;s dirty bum easily, in fact, I had to use quite a few wipes just to clean her up. The wipes didn't move over the skin easily, and there seemed to be more friction, compared to other wipes, which glide over the skin and clean the bottom up quickly, easily and often with only one or two wipes being used. Obviously, I wasn't going to stop using these wipes given I had bought them, so I have now used them to clean both wet and dirty nappies. THey are fine for just wet nappies, and they certainly haven't had any negative effect on my daughter's skin, but they are just no good for dirty nappies.
All in all, these wipes may be a good price, they may be soft and they may be fragrance free, but they simply are not good for cleaning dirty bottoms. You end up using a handful of wipes just to get a bottom clean, compared to other brands of wipes, where you only need to use one or two to get the same results. In that regard then, the price becomes unimportant, as you end up going through a packet quicker. I was very disappointed, as I have liked other products from the Little Angels range, but I certainl wouldn't be buying these wipes again.
Summary: Poor wipes from Asda
