Advantages: Absorbs well; good protection

Disadvantages: price

I discovered 'Bepanthen' through a friend who had recently had a baby, when she bought me a pack of baby care essentials that she had found to be really useful. I had already bought some tesco nappy cream, so I decided to put the bepanthen into my baby bag to use when out and about as it was an easy size to pack.

I was, therefore, using both nappy creams. It was not long, however, before the bepanthen become the main household nappy cream and another tube was purchased to go into the travelling bag.

Compared to the tesco cream, the bepanthen was easy to apply and easy to remove from the tube. I tended to find that the tub of tesco cream was harder to remove and I ended up with most of it down my nails. I did not experience this problem with the bepanthen. It goes on smoothly and rubs in well.

When I remove my baby's nappy, the bepanthen barrier can still be felt and I am really confident that it builds a good barrier on my baby's bottom.

When my baby experienced a little nappy rash, I continued to use the beanthen although to be honest, it did not seem to clear the rash up. In the end, I used some sudocrem, which seemed more effective in clearing up the rash, although I did not like it as much as the bepanthen as a barrier cream.

My only criticism with the bepanthen is the price. It is quite expensive (approx. £3 for a 30g tube), which does not last very long, although there is an option of buying a larger tube for about £5. I would not change, however, as I do trust the protection this cream is giving to my baby.

Summary: An effective cream

I haven't had to use any creams on my baby yet as she's just six weeks old at the moment so hasn't really suffered from any nappy rash and a dusting of baby powder is all she needs, I'm sure I have a tube of this in her box though so will remember it if (and when!) she starts getting a bit sore.
