Advantages: Inexpensive All-In-One, 2 Sizes, Attractive Prints

Disadvantages: Bulky, Not very effective containment

The Boots Reusable Nappy is an All-In-One (AIO) nappy. This means that is has an outer waterproof layer which eliminates the need for plastic pants or a wrap. The lining is made from soft 100% cotton flannelette. This nappy also has an inner booster/soaker pad to increase absorbancy and it can be folded to suit a girl or a boy. The Boots AIO comes in 2 sizes to suit an infant or a toddler. I straightaway purchased the Toddler size because I felt the Infant size would not last long enough. I previously purchased the very similar Kooshies Ultra in the infant size and my son grew out of it within a matter of weeks.

The Boots AIO is a very versatile nappy. It has two thick strips of velcro at the front to help you find a good fit. The velcro tabs have fold backs which prevents snagging other items in the wash. This nappy is quite effective. The liquid is contained very well and makes removal and emptying the nappy into a bucket cleaner than if you have to handle the nappy without a wrap. It also makes a great travelling nappy. I find that this nappy does not handle poo containment very well and it has let me down on several occasions.

I am also not very impressed with the inner soaker pad because it is attached to the back of the nappy (unlike my faves Tots where the booster is attached to the front). I think the idea behind this is that one might wish to fold out the pad to dispose of poo but most cloth nappy fans use additional liners which is far more effective anyway. This nappy has been relagated to the 'spare nappy' pile and is usually only put on at night with an extra booster (as I know my son wont poo at night).

You can wash this nappy as you would with your other cloth nappies but it takes simply ages to dry. Even if tumble dried, it still needs time in the airing cupboard. Tumble drying your AIO reduces its life span as well so this should be considered when deciding which cloth nappies to purchase.

This nappy is qu
ite bulky under clothes but it does come in pretty designs and is one of the cheapest AIOs on the market so definately is good value for money and as a stepping stone to cloth nappy use.
