Advantages: Nice for baby, mum and massage
Disadvantages: None
As I was preparing for baby's arrival a few weeks ago I realised in needed to stock up on some baby oil. I use this for all matter of things, to massage my baby, to add to their baths and to also use on my skin and in my bath. I usually use Johnsons but they were running a Boots products special a few weeks ago so I decided to stock up on a lot of their products. Boots Baby Oil was actually in fact a little bit cheaper than Johnsons so at £1.49 for a 300ml bottle. The bottle is pretty basic, just with a picture of a baby on the front but then that's really all you need and not some fancy packaging, especially when your toddler likes to play with the bottle in the bath and submerge it, pour more in herself etc and generally misuse the bottle anyway.
I think baby oil has to be one of the most inexpensive and effective beauty products out there. I would recommend anyone to keep a bottle in the house as in my opinion it's such a simple but great product. Boots say their baby skin oil will effectively seal moisture to leave skin soft and smooth, gently cleansing and caring for your baby's delicate skin. Like I've said it's great for baby massage. When the little guy has had his bath I like to dry him and then use a few drops to massage all over his newborn skin. This gets rid of the rough patches associated with birth and helps to keep his moisture locked in. The oil does not have a fragrance which is nice as you don't want baby really to have anything smelly on them at this point.
This baby oil is great for baby massage too. You can work it well into your hands with just a little bit of oil and a lot goes a long way on a small baby. You can rub your hands together and get them really warm. I did it with my first child and am doing it with my second too. Baby massage is a great bonding experience for mother and child and very beneficial for the baby in terms of feeling nurtured and protected and I love that this product allows you to really experience that bonding session with the baby.
Boots say that the oil is clinically tested, hypo-allergenic, moisturising pH balanced and consultant paediatrician approved so I think that makes you feel a little bit safer about using it on your little on and makes me feel better too and apparently, Boots also say that regular massage with Boots Baby Skin Oil can help reduce stretch marks so I am going to try that now I have delivered and see if it gets rid of my stretch marks.
