Advantages: Luxury feel at budget price
Disadvantages: Cheaper brands are available
I have two children who are now too old to use baby wipes for their intended purpose, however I now often wonder how I ever managed before baby wipes were in our house.
The Boots brand Baby Soft Cloth Wipes are a variety that , to be honest, I only usually buy when they are on special offer: They are usually priced around £1.99 which is a little bit steep for what they are, and I usually pick up a cheaper version at the supermarket. However, when on a special offer they are a good budget buy which are good quality too, especially when you take into account the extra Advantage Card points.
The packaging is deep purple, semi see-through, with a proper lid opening: this is very useful, compared to some brands which just have a sticker over the opening which soon loses it's 'stick'. This type of opening and closing lid is far superior and lasts the full life of the product.
There are 72 in each pack, which is a little less than some baby wipes which average 80 a pack, so watch out for this when comparing prices etc. The wipes themselves are very soft and thick, and do have a lovely fragrance. Of course, people who are sensitive skinned may find the fragrance to be a disadvantage, however I am a bit sensitive myself yet I find I can use these wipes with no problems at all.
I have tried the more luxury brands such as Pampers and Johnson's and I find that I am paying more money for no reason: The Johnson's do have a lovely smell, but do not clean any better, and the Pamper's actually brought both myself and one of my children out in a burn like rash. This product has never caused any problems like this.
In our house, these wipes are no longer used as nappy wipes, although they used to be, and very effective they were too, removing every scrap of the unmentionables. Nowadays they are used to wipe hands and faces after meals, then folded over and used again to wipe the table.
Other moments of glory for this product are:
Cleaning up during and after an art session
Removal of make-up for me, including eye make-up. They work fine on their own for this job, but if I feel like doing an extra clean, I just add a dab of cleanser, and they make an excellent cleanser and exfoliator in one.
Wiping stainless steel appliances, removing fingerprints and general marks.
Removal of grease spots from furniture/carpets etc, prior to using a proper cleaner.
Travel wipes - keep in the car for freshening up on long journeys.
The list goes on and on really, I can't imagine that I ever didn't have a pack of Boots Baby Soft cloth wipes in the house.
Summary: I wouldn't manage without them
