“ Brand: Boots / Type: Baby Lotion „
On a recent visit home, there were a few beauty products that I decided to leave behind in order to save space. Unfortunately, there were also a few things that I intended to bring but annoyingly forgot to pack, and my moisturiser was one of such things. Since my mam doesn't really use it and I didn't want to fork out for a new moisturiser just to use for a few days, I had to make do with other available products. What my mam suggested I use was this Boots Baby Moisturising Lotion, which she and I mainly use as a makeup remover. I will therefore be reviewing this product in terms of its use as a moisturiser and for removing eye and face make up and will not in any reference its use on a baby, as I do not have experience of this. == Boots Baby Moisturising Lotion == The name says it all with this product. This is a baby lotion that is also moisturising. I've been using baby lotion to remove eye make up and foundation for years, as it's often cheaper and lasts longer than actual eye make up remover and, since it's gentle enough to use on babies' skin, is alright to use on facial skin in adults as well. The fact that it describes itself as moisturising meant that it was a perfect choice for my skincare needs while I'm at home and without my normal moisturiser (which is actually aftersun lotion at the moment, but no need to split hairs). This lotion also says that it includes vitamin E and calendula oil, and while I've never heard of the latter, I know that vitamin E is used in many skincare products and is meant to be good for your skin. A look around some other beauty products I have here, however, has shown that calendula oil is a key ingredient in Bio Oil, and so I imagine it has many benefits for your skin. == What I Thought == Since this was only meant to be a temporary solution while I was without moisturiser, I wasn't too disappointed with this lotion. That said, it wasn't the best moisturising cream and I would never use it in place of a real moisturiser or even aftersun lotion as it really doesn't make my face feel soft or moisturised enough afterwards. Considering that this isn't what it was designed for, I can't be too disappointed by this, but I had hoped that it would have more of an effect considering its 'moisturising' claim. In terms of removing make up, however, it really does the job. I use it on a couple of cotton pads and find that this is enough to remove almost all my make up, with only a bit of mascara or tough eye liner being left. This is easy enough to remove with a small amount of proper eye make up remover and saves money so I am happy to continue using it for this purpose, especially as it gets rid of all my foundation and concealer with ease. == Conclusion == This is a great lotion for removing make up, but I wish it were more effective at moisturising my skin. As a stand by, however, it's really not too bad. At £1.45 for 300ml this is really good value, especially if you mainly use it as a make up remover, as it will last for a lot longer than an eye make up remover would. I wouldn't buy it as a replacement for a moisturiser but am happy to use it while I'm at home for a few days.
I am a man and I have very dry skin. After I have a bath or a shower it feels and looks horrible. I require a moisturiser which is non greasy, not too thick, quick to apply, and does not smell too strongly (as I'm male, and don't really want to smell like perfume). I have tried numerous moisturisers and I have found 'boots baby moisturising lotion with vitamin E and calendula' one of to be the best. At boots at the moment it costs £1.99 for a 300ml bottle. This is well worth the money as you only ever need to use a small amount, so it will last a long time. The product is packaged in a pale orange plastic bottle with an effective nozzle at the top which leaves little mess. The nozzle is also useful if you want to transfer some of the lotion to a smaller bottle (to be put in a travel bag for example) as you will not spill any. The smell of the lotion is quite pleasant and not too strong. When wearing aftershave my girlfriend cannot smell the lotion at all (which is a good thing). It is best applied to warm skin so that it is easily absorbed, and I find that it sooths my skin and leave it feeling nice. I use it mainly on my face, but it is also good for other dry areas such as hands and feet. Comparing 'boots baby moisturising lotion with vitamin E and calendula' to its sister product 'boots baby lotion', the former is more expensive than the latter (£2.14 for a 500ml bottle of 'boots baby lotion'). I also think that 'boots baby moisturising lotion with vitamin E and calendula' leaves your skin feeling more greasy, and has a slightly stronger smell. This product is also good a taking care of a baby or small child's skin. Since I don't have any children I cannot comment on how effective it is on children's skin. Overall it is a good product that is suitable for both men, women and children.
There are two parts to this review feet & body. I brought this a few days ago as i read a review about the boots baby moisturising lotion being good on feet! As my feet are cracked around the heel and quite dry i thought i'd try it out as special creams for cracked heels are about £4.99. I chose this lotion with the added vitimin E & Calendula just because i thought my feet could do with a little extra. I opened the flip lid on the 300ml bottle and it smelt pleasent, not too babyish. I applied a blob onto my hand and rubbed it into my heels straight away my feet felt smoother and the lotion didn't leave my feet feeling greasy! I apply it in the mornings and after a bath/ shower in the evenings and already i have seen a difference in my feet, the heels are alot less cracked and look healthier. Although they are not 100% better which i don't expect as it's a £1.75 bottle of baby lotion i'd say a good 80-85% better! Another good thing is that you don't need alot of lotion, about 2 pea sizes then you can add more if you like. Second Part; Body review. As it's a body lotion i thought i'd try it after a bath, it left my skin feeling really soft and smooth not leaving it greasy. As i have said it doesn't smell too babyish. Again you don't need alot of lotion and a medium sized blob coverd my whole arm upper and lower part. For a baby i can imagine it is brillant and will leave there skin lovely and baby smooth. When i brought this product i noticed there were only 3 bottles left on the shelf which signals it is a good seller! The Lotion can be brought in Boots stores, in the baby bath isle. It costs £1.75 for a 300ml bottle. The bottle is a clear plastic with orange writing on the front and a flip lid, the lotion is a sort of cream colour, it's a runnyish lotion but works wonders! It is consultant dermtologist & paediatrician approved, Lanolin free. Adults can use it on the face aswell. Once opened it should be used within 12 months. Great product for baby and you.
Enriched with vitamin E and calendula, this moisturising baby lotion is a non-greasy, easily absorbed formulation. Use it everyday to replenish lost moisture, gently nourishing and protecting to help maintain healthy skin.
