Advantages: Cheaper than the Main Brands, Large Range of Sizes
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
Having always used Huggies or Terry Towelling Nappies for my children, my youngest got too big for the Junior size so we had to think about another brand. I had used Boots High Performance before when he was a Newborn, and had found that they were quite good. Boots Nappies are available in eight sizes, Low Birth Weight (up to 6lb, 3kg), New Born (4-11lb, 2-5kg), Mini (6-13lb, 3-6kg), Midi (9-20lb, 4-9kg), Maxi (15-40lb, 7-18kg), Maxi Plus (20-44lb, 9-20kg) and Junior (24-55lb, 11-25kg), as well as Extra Large (35lbs+, 16kg+). I will concentrate on the Extra Large size, as they are the ones that I use, but a lot of what I say will be the same for all sizes. The main reason for going back to Boots is that they were available in the “Extra large” size. The only other brand that does Extra Large in Pampers, and we have found with all our children, that they got really bad nappy rash from the Pampers nappies, although I know this is not the same for everyone and if a brand suits you and your child, then stick with it. The nappies have a Soft Breathable cotton feel cover, leakage barriers around the legs, an elasticated panel in the back, and re-sealable tapes, that are great if your child is only in nappies at night, as you can take the nappy off when the child suddenly decides that they need the toilet, just after you have put the nappy on. The Extra Large size comes in a pack of 24, for £4.99 (just under 21p per nappy), although the smaller sizes have more nappies in. All packs cost the same £4.99, except for the newborn and low birth weight sizes which cost less. Unfortunately as I don’t buy the nappies anymore, I am not sure how much the smaller sizes cost. From my experience, Boots High Performance Nappies are just as good as the main leading brands, but at more than £1 less than the leading brands, you could make quite a big saving. My son is three, and only wears nappies at night,
and I had worried that they would leak. However, despite him wearing them for about 12 hours, we have only rarely had a leak, and that has been when he has had a lot to drink just before he has gone to bed. I can definitely recommend Boots High Performance nappies to anyone but, as I said before, no two children are the same, and if you have found something that works for you, stick with it, especially if your child is still in nappies all day, as a constant change in the brand of nappies for a small child can encourage nappy rash. Quick UpDate It looks like I won't be needing these any more!!! Why do Kids always decide they don't want nappies anymore when you have just bought a pack? ;0)

- 02/10/01 I found Boots nappies excellent when my son was newborn, as they were the only prem nappies we could find. However, as he grew in to the next size up, they were a nightmare - leaking and falling off - yuk! I have to admit I didn't try them again - we use sainsbury's ones now, also cheaper than Huggies etc. V. useful op, thanks. |
