Advantages: A decent freebie

Disadvantages: Small and poor quality

I joined Boots Parenting Club mainly to receive the free changing bag that they value at £29.99. You get a voucher when you join (which is free) and all you have to do is buy one pack of Pampers New Baby nappies to get the free bag. This was no hardship as Boots often have 2 packs of 27 nappies for £6 which is the best deal I found.

I got a changing bag to match my pram but I thought it wouldn't hurt to have a spare. However, there is no way that the free bag is worth just short of £30!

It comes well packaged in a cardboard box, which is helpfully found right next to the nappies in Boots. It is black with pale grey detailing on the two front pockets. It has plenty of pockets for bits and pieces but the overall space it offers is nowhere near as much as a new mum needs. It comes with a black padded travel pampers changing mat in its own zip-up bag which is really useful when you are out and about as you can put it on top of the often grotty changing mats you find in public toilet changing facilities.

The quality is poor and it is very small compared to other changing bags. The best thing about it was the nice padded black Pampers travel changing bag that I took out and used in my main changing bag. There is no way that you could get everything you need for a day out with a newborn in it - it is so thin you could only get 3 or 3 nappies in with a pack of wipes. I did not use the Boots bag I gave it to a charity shop, but I am fussy and let's be honest it is inoffensive in colour so I'm sure it would be of use to some. A lot of my friends have very girly Cath Kidson or OiOi bags and their husbands and partners use the Boots bag.

What I don't understand is how it can be advertised as being worth £30. It also comes with a Boots Baby Expert travel size body wash which I liked.

Summary: Worth joining for the free bag
