I received a small bottle of this in a Burt's Bees gift set that I got for my birthday last year.
The body lotion comes in a bottle and it is made with 100% natural ingredients. It has a thick creamy consistency and the lotion smells quite sweet. I love the scent as it's not at all overpowering. The body lotion hasn't been tested on animals either, which is a bonus. It's suitable for all skin types.
The body lotion is easy to use. You just apply it to dry skin after a bath or shower and the body lotion absorbs into the skin well without leaving a nasty residue on the surface of your skin. The body lotion is great for dry and/ or sensitive skin as it has a mild and gentle formula. This lotion can even be used on babies!
The body lotion is also nice for the hands as it helps to soften them when they are dry and/ or cracked. The lotion also helps to repair damaged cuticles and heal cuts and grazes. Applying this body lotion to sore skin is like heaven. You can apply it to sunburnt skin as it's really soothing and the natural ingredients all come together to deliver one excellent quality body lotion. It's a huge sigh of relief for dry and/ or sore skin.
After using this product my body feels a whole lot better. It feels soft, smooth and protected. This product is great for use all year round but it's especially effective during the winter months when your dry skin is at it's worst.
I love Burt's Bees!
Before my baby was born (and we didn't know better) We stocked up on johnsons baby products! A few months into using these and I found baby's skin starting to get irritated and dry. I decided to try a few more products to find out what would help and work best for us.
I tried several organic own brands from stores, but although they were better, they still weren't cutting it.
I then found a little bottle of Burt Bees Buttermilk Lotion that I had been given as a gift. I started using a tiny amount everyday and the dry patches started to disappear!
Two months on and we are still using this product with no problems! We have purchased a big bottle of the lotion and are also using other products from the Burt Bees Baby range with great results.
The natural scent is lovely and a small amount goes a long way!
My only negative would be that its not stocked in supermarkets and only in certain branches of Boots.
~Packaging & Product~
Burt's Bees Baby Buttermilk Lotion comes in a 205ml squeeze bottle, and can be bought for £9.99, but cheaper if you shop around. The lotion is a thick, white, creamy consistency. You may have to shake it before use as the lotion tends to congeal in the lid.
The featured ingredient is buttermilk. This specialty milk is richer in fats and emollients than whole milk. For centuries, milk has been used as a natural, soothing skin cleanser and skin softener. Other natural ingredients include beeswax to seal in moisture, sunflower oil and coconut oils to soothe.
I LOVE this lotion, it smells divine, it smells sweet and soft like most baby lotions but not as sickly. It's not just for babies! Yes, it's formulated for baby's precious skin, therefore it is perfect for adults who suffer from dry or sensitive skin or allergies. I suffer from eczema from time to time and this body lotion is the mildest thing you can use. It even helps to clear it up a lot of the time.
As well as smelling amazing, it's made with no chemicals, environmentally friendly and not tested on animals so you can feel good about yourself while using it! It's a lovely product to use after a bath or shower to lock in the moisture, and not much is needed because it is rich and sinks in really well to your skin. It doesn't leave you feeling sticky, just soft and moisturised! If used sparingly I would say a bottle could last 2 to 3 months, but I like to use it mostly every day so I go through a bottle in about a month!
It's natural ingredients are very safe and for baby's skin. Like I said it's great for adults too if you like smelling as sweet as a baby! I would recommend this to anyone who suffers from dry skin. I'll not bore you with the history of the company and things, but they do have some very admirable environmental policies - check out their website for more info.
I know what your're thinking - another review on Burts Bees ! But as its something I think I know quite a lot about I thought I should stick to what I know and trust.I have quite sensitive skin , and my daughter suffers from mild eczma. So I have no choice but to find a product that does not aggravate the problem.
This is when my beloved Burts comes in again to save the day. Burts Bees does a Baby Bee range which is mostly natural based ingredients , earth friendly packaging and not tested on animals.
It is so mild and smells absolutely gorgeous, and I have found that it has not irritated her skin even when she was a baby. You may think me biased as I adore all the Burts range anyway, but I have truthfully tried everything I could get my hands on that claims to be natures best ,no matter the cost!
My little girl is now 6 and still uses the Baby Bee range including this Baby Bee Buttermilk Lotion. It is 205ml/7.0 floz and comes in a white bottle with bright yellow labelling. The cost is arround £10-£12 depending on where you purchase it from - bearing in mind added shipping fees !
It has a lovely sweet smell and will make your little one smell delicious , this particular product is 98.79% natural. Although it is quite runny it soakes in nearly straight away . So dont be decieved, as with most Burts products a little goes a long way, It will moisturise without irritating delicate skin. My little girl bathes in Baby Bee Bubble bath or Baby Bee" Shampoo and wash" in the shower, both range from £8-£12 .Then I apply the Buttermik lotion straight away to moisturise.
It is not a solution to sensitive skin , but I find its as close as Im going to get to a natural product that suits her skin, and she loves using it.
It is quite expensive for a baby range but I think it is justified in the fact that it is the only product I have found that suits her skin and is natural, Earth Friendly packaged and not tested on animals.
aqua(water),helianthus annuus(sunflower)seed oil,glycerine,cocus nucifera(coconut)oil,stearic acid,cera alba(beeswax),parfum(fragrance),butyris lac(buttermilk powder),aloe barbadensis leaf juice,citrus aurantium dulcis(sweet orange)peel wax,rosmarinus officinalis(rosemary)leaf extract,tocopherol,glycine soja(soybean)oil,xanthan gum,sucrose stearate,glucose,canola oil,sodium borate,sodium chloride,sodium benzoate,glucose oxidase,lactoperoxidase,benzyl benzoate,butylphenyl,methylpropional,coumarin,geraniol,limonene,linalool.
I know these ingredients read like an unnatural based product but I thought I would include the scientific names so you could compare for yourself the chemical alternatives.
My son came into the world two weeks later than expected and when he was born he had dry wrinkly skin which was due to the fact that I had gone full term plus two weeks. A baby's skin is precious so I have always been selective over what products I will use on my son's skin, for the first two weeks I only bathed him in warm plain water and I never used a lotion or soap on his skin. Once his umbilical cord had dried up and it was clean I started to use a small amount of mild baby soap in his bath, I only bathed him once a week as a baby doesn't really get dirty. My son's skin was already perfect and soft to the touch so I didn't see the need to clog his pores up with creams and lotions, as he already has a sweet natural smell which is far nicer than any cream or lotion.
On the small areas where my son's skin did become dry I used a small amount of oil which cleared up any dry patches almost immediately, I also used a drop of oil in his bath water too. I was given baby lotion when my son was born however I never felt inclined to use it on his skin. I used the baby lotion for my own personal use as I like to moisturise daily - time permitting of course, and I prefer to use delicate lotions where possible and I'm not over fussed with smelling like a flower. I personally prefer to use natural products that are kind to my skin and the environment and Burt's Bees is currently my favourite brand for skin care products. I use a few products from the Burt's Bees range and my son who is now 25 months old also likes to put his hand in my cream and he likes to copy me of course, so he rubs it into his hands and toes and he quite likes the feeling of the slippery cream, and he likes to run his finger around the palm of his hand to 'play' with the cream. Knowing that the lotion I use is made from natural ingredients I knew that it would be okay for my son's skin. When I ran out I decided to buy the lotion which is designed for baby's skin for my son and me to use.
The Baby Bee buttermilk lotion is a little bit more expensive than the previous bottle of lotion which I had bought from their range; however I didn't mind paying the extra as I was confident that it would be just as good and it was also designed for little ones to use as well. At £11.74 for 205ml of lotion this is probably the more expensive lotion designed for baby's on the market, however I am prepared to spend extra for a product that is natural and kind to my son's skin.
The bottle is fairly plain and it doesn't really attract you to look at it, the bottle is an off white colour with a peel -able (making it easy to recycle) yellow label which is designed to look like honeycomb with a picture of a beehive in the centre and a bee on each corner, so it has the same style as the other products in their range. All of the important information is on the back of the bottle. The bottles may not be eye catching but the product within is what matter and I have never been letdown by a Burt's Bees product yet.
The bottle is tall and thin with a press down cap making it easy to use one handily leaving you with a free hand to apply the lotion to your little one. The bottle needs a good squeeze to dispense the lotion and only a small amount is dispensed. The consistency of the lotion is quite thin however it doesn't run off my hand when I turn it over to massage the cream in as the lotion is rich with oils. The colour seemed a little odd at first as it is a slightly yellow-y brown colour, having said that though all of the Burt's Bees products are usually a rich colour, although this one is very pale. All of the products that I have used in this range are not only rich in colour but they are highly fragrant with some unusual scents, however this Buttermilk is very delicately scented and I have to get close up to it to be able to detect the light buttermilk scent. This is perfect for a baby as they don't appreciate strong scents and they inhale deeper than us adults, so the fragrance is just right for using on a baby's precious skin. The formula is quite rich so only a small amount is needed, it is best to use it sparingly as it doesn't sink into the skin it sits on the skin and you need to massage it in well, once it is massaged into the skin it does absorb fairly quickly, I dispense a small amount into the palm of my hand and then I use my finger tip to take a small amount of the cream to apply it to the area that I want to moisturise. Although the cream looks fairly light, it is quite rich so you do need to work it into the skin quite well. Considering you only need a small amount it is going to last a long time, as a baby doesn't have as much skin to cover.
The formula is made with 98.79% natural ingredients and it features natural emollients, the main ingredients are buttermilk and beeswax which help to seal in the moisture and soothe baby's skin. This lotion is also made up with sunflower and coconut oils which are moisturising and nourishing so they will condition the skin, it is also enriched with Aloe Vera, buttermilk and vitamin E. Another reason why I am so fond of the Burt's Bees range is because they don't test their products on animals, and don't use any synthetic chemical preservatives, surfactants, or colourings, so not only are their natural products kind to your baby's skin they are kind to the environment too. Although this lotion seems expensive it will last you several months so it makes it good value for money in my opinion.
I didn't particularly buy this lotion for my son, I bought it more so for myself but seeing as my son also likes to use my lotion whenever he sees me open the bottle I thought I would try this one instead as it would be more suited to his skin and it would be just as good to my skin also. My son has smooth skin anyway however while he is teething the skin on his face becomes taught from the excess saliva and the skin on his knuckles becomes red and sore too from where he sucks and gnaws on his fingers, this combined with the cold harsh weather has made his delicate skin a little bit sore in places. He quite likes me squirting some cream into his hand as he likes to feel the texture and move it around his hand with his finger. I use a very small amount on his face and over the backs of his hands, he is more than content to lay there will I gently massage it into his skin, the scent is very subtle and it doesn't mask my baby's own smell and the scent doesn't linger for too long afterwards either. It doesn't take long before my son has his hands back in his mouth and he has not showed any signs that he can taste the lotion. It has moisturised the dry areas that needed a bit of attention and it hasn't irritated my son's skin in any way.
I also use the lotion for myself as the lotion is suitable for sensitive skin of all ages, it can be used all over and you can use it to moisturise hands too. I use this on my hands face and body after showering and it leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised. I also use the lotion throughout the day to moisturise my hands as it is lightweight and not much is needed and it takes little time to work into my hands and it doesn't leave me skin feeling sticky at all.
I am really pleased with this product and I will definitely be buying it again as it is suitable for all the family to use, it cares for my son's skin and it is excellent value for money as a little goes a long way.
