Advantages: fun at bathtime for babies and children alike, look fun

Disadvantages: Expensive now, make sure you use no-tears bubble bath as baby will squirt herself in the eye!

I've had these Rub A Dub Bath Squirters for years, they've lasted for years and still look good PLUS they were much cheaper when I bought mine and seem to have skyrocketed in price since then.

In the pack you get five bath squirters; two pirates, a treasure chest, shark and a cannon. All of these have a hole punched into them through which you fill the squirter and to squirt the water.

The squirters are very colourful and look lovely, my granddaughter is 19 months old now and squeals in delight whenever she sees me taking them out of her bath bag. They're very well made and none of the PVC has cracked or bloated in the eight or nine years I've had them and this is with three children playing with them on at least a fortnightly basis. The colour is also still good, a little of the paint has worn off on some areas such as the tips of the pirates hat but apart from that they still look great.

The holes where the water will squirt out are strategically placed in each of the pirate's mouths, on the tip of the sharks nose, in the lock of the treasure chest and at the end of the cannon. This is great because it makes it easier to teach the child which way to face the squirter, after squirting water in her face my granddaughter is now very careful to make sure the pirate is facing away from her!

She does like to squirt herself sometimes but makes sure she angles the figure enough for the water to land on her chest rather than in her face, I've caught her trying to drink from one which I know isn't going to kill her but this is perhaps to be discouraged.

The figures are chunky enough that small hands can easily hold them, my granddaughter was probably around 14 months before she could actually squirt them herself but they're easy enough for her squeeze them easily now. They have a recommended age of six months, although I doubt you'll want to use them that early as baby will not be able to hold them herself and will not relish being squirted while sitting in the bath either.

Each figure stands around 8cm high and I'm sure you'll agree this is very good compared to the squirters you can buy in the Poundshop which are only 5cm or 6cm tall at best and do not squirt well at all, more of a dribble. These Rub A Dub squirters have a good range depending on who is squirting, even my young granddaughter can manage to get Nanny in the eye with Johnson's scented bath water sometimes!

These cost £9.99 from Amazon, I remember paying only around £3 for mine and was shocked to see the RRP up as over £20 which is scandalous for five small PVC figures with holes in them!

Summary: Making bathtime even more fun!
