Advantages: My son loved it and now enjoys bathtime.

Disadvantages: Dosn't blow bubbles properly and arms fall off

I bought this as a christmas present for my son as he loves bubbles and hates bath's. Since he was born bathtime have been a huge struggle with me having to physically carry him to the bathroom and get him washed as quickly as possible.

I have bought many bath toys trying to get his interest and make bathtime more enjoyable for him and less stressfull for me. Whilst shopping one day I came across this in a local toy store costing only £10. As he loves bubbles so much I thought it was worth buying in the hope that he would like it so much he would want to stay in the bath.

Curious George is a cartoon appearing on sky television that I know appeals to a lot of pre-school children. There is also a dvd range and a huge book collection so I am sure that curious george is a character appealing to most people.

This toy is a rather large soft plastic model of curious George that is designed to go in the bath and blow bubbles.

It comes complete with a large bottle of bubble solution and a washcloth that changes colour when wet.

It can be used in and out of water and it's especially fun in the swimming pool.

The thing that impressed the most about this toy is that it is completly 'kid powered' meaning that no batteries are required. You simply squeeze his tummy to make him blow the bubbles.

It sounded fantastic according to the commercials and information on the box and I couldn't wait to see what my son thought of it.

Next bathtime I explained to my son that curious geaorge needs a wash and were going to be bathing him also. We loaded up the bubble solution and squeezed his tummy excitedly, unfortunately nothing happened. A few tried later we discovered that you've got to press his tummy hard, and I mean hard and even then you only get one or two bubbles. Foam runs all around his mouth making him look like he has rabies or something. Also his arms fall off a lot? I suppose it's good drainage for the toy but should they really be that loose?

The advert shows George blowing streams and streams of bubbles but there is absolutely no way that this toy is capable of blowing bubbles like that.

So while the toy was a huge dissapointment, it worked for it's intended purpose. My son loved it so much that he spent nearly half and hour in the bath 'drowing' George and making his mouth foam with bubbles.

The toy is not very well made at all and while it looks and sounds fantastic the reality is very different. I suggest steering clear but at least I can bath my son now without a week long struggle.

Summary: Not worth parting with a penny for, it's cheaply made and not very good.
