I had been working my way through the Mum & Me range after getting a lot of free sample packs throughout my pregnancy and just after my birth.
Fro 2/3 weeks I washed my baby with only water at the health visitor's recommendation, but decided it was time to try some products on my baby in the bath and was looking for something as pure and simple as possible.
Depending on what offers are on and where you shop this product retails at around £2.50. Sometimes cheaper, sometimes more pricey!
My baby had very dry skin throughout her body, not sore, but very very flakey on her head, arms and legs. This made me hesitant about what products to use and how to avoid irritating her already gentle and sensitive skin. This was my first choice in a bathing product for my little one, and I expected a lot of trial and error, but this ended up being my last.
It is a very versatile product. It can be added to running water to create a mild cleansing bubble bath (only very small amount of bubbles) or added to a wash cloth to create a more concentrated product.
I tend to add about 5 squirts into the running bath water, and clean my babies body with this water, and add a bit more to a wash cloth and froth it up to clean her hair.
I was astounded by the results. Not only did it not irritate her dry skin, but it actually greatly improved the quality of her skin. Prior to using this wash her skin was flaky and peeling, afterwards there were only small patches of dry skin and it was much softer and silkier.
I would recommend this product to any parent who wants a gentle, versatile all-over wash for their baby. No need to over complicate things with multiple products!
I use this every bath time for my 3 year old daughter and 10 month old son. I do use it top to toe on my son. He has a fair amount of hair and it works perfectly as a shampoo for him. I have to use a different shampoo and conditioner for my daughter as she has long hair with a tendency to tangle and I suspect the top to toe wash is meant more for babies than young children. I use just 1 squirt for my son''s hair and it washes it beautifully. As a body wash it lathers as I would expect for a gentle body wash i.e. not as much as my own shower gel. I probably use 3 squirts on my son''s sponge so this body wash does last me quite a long time. My daughter also uses it as a body wash and can apply it to her sponge herself which makes my life easier. People have commented on how lovely my son''s hair smells. It does smell very fresh and there is a faint and certainly not overpowering scent of lavender which is supposed to make them sleepy and relaxed for bed! I don''t find the scent of lavender makes them sleepy but it a pleasant smell nonetheless. I do have an issue with this and that is travel. I find it very difficult to lock the nozzle so that it doesn''t squirt out of the bottle while we are travelling. When I try to turn the nozzle into lock mode it just squirts out body wash at me so I end up wasting it. Now I just put it in a carrier bag so it can''t leak onto anything else but it''s not an ideal solution. Overall I like this body wash and would definitely recommend it to others.
I bought the top to toe wash from Cussons Mum & Me range after trying and liking other products in this new range. As a mum to two youngersters aged 4 months and 2.5 years, we like trying any products which make bath time fun (and cleaner!).
This product comes in a large 500ml bottle and has a pump top dispenser which is my favourite style of bottle as I find it makes a product go a lot further than the squeezy top style. Inside the product is clear. The bottle is white and has purple accent colours and looks very nice. The bottle has a subtle curved shape which makes it easier to hold. You can also recycle the bottle when empty.
How to use
Pour directly into running water or apply to baby's skin and hair by hand or with a sponge. Gently lather and rinse off.
My first impression upon pumping out the product was how difficult it was to pump it out! It felt really stiff and I can only assume this is down to the thickness of the product. It took a huge effort to pump it once and did not get any easier as we worked our way through the bottle. We generally use this as a body wash with a flannel or body puff as we like to use a seperate shampoo for hair. As a body wash this is mild and lathers up nicely and feels like it has gentle cleaning properties. Its main user is our two year old but I have also used it as a bubble bath and it works well in the water for this too; I figured I could lie in the bath and let the bubbles wash me whilst I relaxed!
I like this product and always look out for it in Boots as it is often on offer. The worst thing I can think to say about it is that it is a bit stiff to pump out but it's not really that big a problem, I'd rather it was a bit too thick than too runny. My daughter seems to enjoy using this too, she is always keen to hold out her flannel for some to be pumped on and enthusiastically rubs it over her body.
Normal price for a 500ml bottle is £2.99 which I think is a pretty good price but I bought our first bottle for half this price as they were promoting this new range in Boots.
Anything which makes bath time a little easier is welcome in our house. I love the way this range smells too, it's not too babyish but not too adult either. The main ingredient is camomile. I am a huge fan of this range and have yet to find a product I don't like. Boots keep sending me vouchers for this range and I am more than happy to use them!
