Advantages: Hands are free to wash the baby

Disadvantages: Found it awkward to wash my baby

When I saw this in the Argos catalogue I was pretty impressed. It would mean I would have both hands free to bath my little one without being in that awkward position and being afraid that my son would slip out of my hand and end up dunking him under. It was priced at £14.99 so the next time I went into town I picked one up.

The one we have is a turquoise blue with a 'Summertime' theme on it. It has a soft padded cushion to support your baby's head and the actual seat is made of a strong mesh and plastic. It has two positions and the actual base is a non-slip one. It is suitable to use from birth.

The whole idea of this seat is that you can put your baby in it whilst bathing them and use two hands to clean them and play which is great but I just didn't get on with it.

For a start it's quite tall so you have to fill the bath quite full if you want the water to reach your baby. I know I could just put a little bit of water in the bath and clean them with that but I don't like being wet and uncovered so I'm pretty sure my baby definately doesn't. You could say 'Well don't leave them in the bath too long'. The thing I have another son who really enjoys bathing with him and now my youngest is at an age where hes starting to interact it's nice for them to have some quality bath time together.

I also find the position of the feet is quite funny. It seems to stick up quite high so my son seems split in half and you can't get into his creases down below very well which leads me on to my next nag.

I can't properly clean him because the seat gets in the way. Yes I do move him around to get into the creases but it's really awkward. When I had my first son I borrowed a different design of bath seat off a friend and that was much easier to use and wash my baba.

So needless to say this was a waste of money for me personally because I only used it a few times before I got a wee bit stressed and chucked it in the cupboard. I think it'll probably be on Ebay within the next couple of weeks.

I'm sure other people have had alot of success with this but not I, I'm afraid. I'll stick to the old fashioned way! I actually find that if you fill the bath a little you can lie your baby flat in it and wash them like that which is a lot easier.

Summary: Not a hit with me
