Advantages: does what it says on the bottle - gets rid of cradle cap
Disadvantages: contains sodium lauryl sulphate
Cradle cap is a very common dry and flaky skin condition found on the scalp of babies and young children. It has the appearance of a yellow brown colour; it can mount up to looking like thick scabs on the scalp which although not harmful, is not very nice to look at.
It is very tempting to just pick off the scales; however this is not recommended as it can pull your baby's hair out.
Dentinox cradle cap treatment shampoo is a treatment for cradle cap. I used this on my son as soon as I noticed the cradle cap appearing and it worked wonders, the next day it had disappeared. His head has been clear ever since.
For thicker cradle cap it will help to lift the scab like patches which can then be brushed out with a comb. It may not get rid of it on first application like with my little boy.
My friends used this on her baby and hers disappeared after the third application. Her baby's cradle cap was quite thick.
The product:
Dentinox comes in a plain white bottle in a green box with a picture of a mummy and baby on the front. At first glance it could be mistaken for medicine;
I think the packaging could be very much improved as it doesn't even look like shampoo.
The bottle contains 125ml and surprisingly smells fresh and floral.
Dentinox can be used from birth.
Unfortunately this product is not made from natural materials, it contains chemicals such as sodium laurlyl sulphate, although I know very little about this chemical, what I do know is that it is not going to be as gentle on your baby's skin as would a shampoo made with natural ingredients.
Application:
Always read the label and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
You need to wet your baby's head with warm water and then gently but firmly massage about half a teaspoon full of the Dentinox shampoo over your baby's scalp.
You then need to rinse your baby's head and shampoo it once again.
It should then be rinsed off well and dried.
This can then be repeated the next day and then at each bath time until your baby's head is clear.
The shampoo can be used as a normal shampoo or as and when needed to keep your baby's scalp clean and healthy.
Cost:
I bought this from Asda costing £1.43
I would recommend this product to clear cradle cap; however I wouldn't recommend using it as an everyday shampoo as it contains too many chemicals for my liking.
Summary: A good product to get rid of cradle cap that works

- 11/11/09 I've just noticed my 1 year old daughter has developed a bit of cradle cap so I must get some of this. She's got sensitive skin so I hope this doesnt irritate her. |
