Advantages: Colourful characters

Disadvantages: Condensation builds up inside

My little boy recently turned one and was inundated with gifts. I therefore have rather a lot of his new toys to review. One of the gifts he received was the Early Learning Centre Bath Rattle and Roll Friends.

The ELC's Bath Rattle and Roll Friends are a trio of bath toys. They are currently available from the Early learning Centre at £8.00 and have an age guidance of six months to two years.

The first toy in this trio is a fish, the base of which is bright orange in colour and the top is transparent. There are two painted eyes on the top and four yellow painted scales. Inside the fish, looking down from the transparent top, is a concave mirror at the base and a plastic ball which is half yellow and half pink. When the fish is moved around, the ball spins around on the mirrored base and creates a cascade of colour and a rattling noise.

The second bath toy in this trio is a turtle. The turtle has a blue base colour and again a transparent top. This toy is rather similar to the fish in that it has a concave mirror and a plastic ball inside. The mirror however is more shallow than that of the fish and the plastic ball is half blue, a darker blue than the turtle's base, and half green. The transparent top of this toy is smooth on the outside and cut on the inside in a similar design to that of a cut diamond. This effect further enhances the array of colour and patterns which appear when the ball is moved around the mirrored base.

The final toy in the bath trio is a frog. The frog has a green base and a transparent top where two bulging plastic eyes are situated. Inside is a slightly concave mirror and lots of spherical plastic beads in various colours. When agitated, this toy does not create much colour as the other toys do, the predominant feature of this toy is the rattling sound caused by the beads.

When placed in the bath water these toys float and bob along. One disadvantage that they do have however is that condensation tends to build up inside them, causing visibility of the colours inside to be somewhat compromised.

Overall the Early Learning Centre's Bath Rattle and Roll friends are a good product. However improvements could be made in order to prevent the build up of condensation. My son loves to splash around in the bath and these toys make his experience all the more enjoyable.

Summary: Great product although in need of slight improvement

Do you know which materials these are made of? (might be nice to know..) & if they are recyclable..
Plastic s are usually PE or PP or such.. or there's a number in a triangle.. on the packaging or the thingie..
