As a parent, potty training is possibly one of the biggest early obstacles faced, and I am right in the middle of the trying to potty train my daughter stage and to say i am struggling is a pretty big understatement!!! (Most things have seemed like a bit of a breeze compared to this - and add it to the lovely terrible two's stage......makes for not much fun!) She is showing all the signs of being ready for the potty and has been doing so for many months but will she go on the potty??? Ha not a chance!!! (Despite holding it in for nine hours!!!) I have bought four potty's in the hope i would find one she will use, even let her choose one herself but i am still hitting a brick wall. So, my final thing to try is this, the Fisher Price Fun To Learn Potty, also known as My Potty Friend

I had seen this toilet at Toys R Us but the £35 price tag put me off somewhat, so when seeing it on Amazon, having found it for £26.39 rather than the normal price so i thought i would definately give it a go. It is a brilliant little thing, it looks just like a real toilet but much smaller of course. It has the standard cute little fisher price smiley face on the back of the toilet, an extendable toilet roll holder, a shiny silver flusher and a bright blue lid. The potty takes 3 AA batteries which go in the base and as soon as you turn it on it plays a cute song about toilet paper! The flusher makes a clicking noise when pressed.

When the child goes on the little toilet, as soon as something hits the sensors in the bowl music will start to play and they child will be congratulated for going on the toilet. After a couple of minutes, the child will be asked if they have flushed the toilet. The music really encourages the child to go on the toilet, and when they hear them being congratulated it is great for boosting them up and makes them want to go more in my opinion.

It is a very sturdy toilet, as with all Fisher Price items and although we have only had it a very short time i think it will be long lasting. It is very easy to clean as the seat comes out with ease and the bowl inside is easily removed to be washed and it has a small handle to enable you to cleanly dispose of the contents down your own toilet!

After your child has been potty trained, the seat of the toilet can be removed and put onto your main toilet if you wish, so its not such a shock to go from this to the big toilet! I think thats a good idea and again makes the transition easier.

This is just a fantastic idea from Fisher Price and i think it is a great way to toilet train as it isn't like the child is sitting on a potty, its as if they are on a real toilet so it won't be as much of a shock for them to go on a big toilet if they were just using a standard potty.

Five out of five stars - just brilliant!

Summary: a great little training aid
