Advantages: Great smell, lasts for a very long time!

Disadvantages: None!

With a history of eczema and dry skin on both sides of the family, I have been keen to try and find something for my children that will be gentle on their skin. Halos and Horns is made from natural ingredients, without a lot of the nasty stuff that you will find in most shampoos such as sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), parabens & triclosan. I'm not sure that the evidence against these in conclusive, but I do believe that they're not great for skin or for the environment.

The shampoo itself has a lovely, fresh smell which is quite different to a lot of the shampoos available. The best thing about it is that you only need a tiny amount. I have two children and we wash their hair once a week. A bottle of this stuff lasts me about 6 months! Because there is no SLS, you won't get a lot of foam like you do with a normal shampoo, but this doesn't affect the result. It leaves hair soft, smelling lovely and very manageable. Neither of my children have very long hair, so I don't know how it would cope with long hair from a conditioning point of view.

When my son was born, we used more traditional baby products. He had absolutely awful cradle cap which lasted for months, and quite dry skin. By the time my daughter arrived, I'd done some reading, and realised that babies actually don't really need any bath products on their skin. We switched to a very gentle soap to use when needed, and Halos and Horns shampoo. And she has never ever had even a speck of cradle cap. Now that might not be down to the shampoo, it's not a very scientific experiment! But based on my experience, I think this shampoo genuinely is much better for your child's hair and skin than some of the traditional brands.

It costs £2.45 for a bottle. Great value considering how long it lasts.

Summary: Don't be fooled by the lack of foam, this product really works!
