I must admit I can be a bit of an impulse buyer. Don't take me wrong, I do not normally go out and buy anything that I can lay my eyes on, but if I see product I haven't tried and it's on offer, I am likely to purchase it. I love trying new products as well as products I haven't used before. Buying Halos and Horns Hair & Body Wash was one of my impulse buys. I never heard of this brand before. One day when my daughter was only about 6 months I was browsing baby products in Boots and came across this body wash. It instantly caught my eye. Well it was on special offer so that's what probably caught my eye in the first instance however looking at the bottle I was intrigued. There were few different products available at the time, I have chosen Zingy Orange Hair & Body wash as I loved the smell. It comes in 250ml upside down bottle with the bright orange coloured flip top lid. I think the bottle is very eye catching with funky looking design on it. It has "Halos n Horns" printed on the top part of the bottle in funny kiddie like writing and kids hand print in the middle of the bottle. Reading the bottle advices me that this product is kind to kids eyes, hypoallergenic, dermapaedic and that products are not tested on animals. All those elements and lovely smell (and the fact that it was on half-price sale) sold this product to me. This product can be used as shampoo and body wash which I prefer as I did not need to change between shampoo and baby wash. I have used this product both suggested ways: squeezing small amount onto the baby sponge and pouring into the running water. Both times this product failed to lather very well. I had to squeeze more than small amount onto the sponge to create decent lather. It does leave the skin smelling lovely and feeling smooth though. I have used it on my daughter's hair as well and again it failed to lather well so I ended up using more. It left my daughter's hair tangled (she has curly and quite long hair for her age) and not at all smooth. I have then stopped using it on her hair and used it as a body wash only. "Kind to eyes" statement seems to be correct as my daughter did get it in her eyes and was not bothered at all. This product lasted me a while only because I haven't been using it on a regular basis but I do not see it lasting very long if it was used on a daily basis due to amount needed to create foam. I have seen this product in few shops (Boots, Sainsbury's) and it is also available on-line. I have purchased it half price however it has been ages ago and I do not remember exact price. Full price of this product retails roughly between £2.50 and £3 depending where you buy it from, Amazon may have better deals. This product does smell nice but that's the only thing about it and to my opinion there are better baby/kids bathing product available at better price. 3/5 stars for delicious smell, for leaving skin smelling lovely and feeling smooth
I bought this for my daughter after using the mango and melon shampoo and loving it. Each tube contains 250ml of shower gel and costs around £3. You can buy Halos and Horns at Asda and Boots. The product is primarily a shower gel but you can also use it as a shampoo and a bubble bath. The shower gel contains conditioners which will condition the scalp and hair as well as the skin. The bottle states that the shower gel is hypoallergenic and has a no more tears formula. The manufacturer recommends that you don't use any products on your baby's skin for the first month but then after that they state that this product is safe to use. Halos and Horns are also paraben free. The gel has a lovely orange scent it smells really natural and like freshly squeezed orange juice, it also has a jelly like consistency which would make it fun for older children to use to wash themselves. The gel lathers up really well from only a small amount. I use a sponge and I only need to use a pea sized amount fof the gel to wash my daughter all over. I have also used this as a shampoo again you only need the smallest amount and it gives a really good lather. My daughter has a lot of hair and I was using Johnson's baby shampoo but it left her hair really lank looking, this gel leaves her hair soft and shiny. I have also used the gel as a bubble bath, I only use a small amount as I don't like too many bubbles. It makes a decent foam from the smallest amount too! After using this my daughters hair and skin has a lovely citrusy smell that is really refreshing. Her skin feels soft and moisturised too. I have been using this for about a month now and I haven't noticed any irritation to her skin. I am also only a quarter of a way through a bottle so it represents good value for money.
I bought Halos n Horns for the blurb - both of my children suffer from eczema, so I am constantly trying new things to wash them with. I have tried an assortment of things that usually cause a skin flare up and then we go back to prescibed emolients from the doctor. For a 2 and a half year old oil based products that don't lather, smell nice or make decent bubbles, just doesn't cut it. I am able to use Halos n Horns zingy orange bodywash daily because it has been designed by the mother of an eczema sufferer - she originally came up with the product for her son and then decided to market it. Most of the chemicals and harsh detergents have been removed making it a more gentle option. It is kind to eyes, hypoallegenic and kind to animals - being that it is not tested on them. The Zingy orange body wash can be used on the body and as a hair shampoo. It has an orange colour (obviously) and doesn't smell much like oranges (but it does have a smell which is nice enough) and whilst it probably doesn't lather as much as normal bodywashes that you would buy, it does lather more than most other emolients for eczema's sufferers. This product has not caused any skin flare ups in my child even though it is used on the skin and hair regularly. A thumbs up in my opinion. I bought my bottles in Morrison's which I think is more expensive than Tesco's, so shop around for the best price.
My husband recently came back from a shopping trip to Morrisons with a tube of Halos and Horns Zingy Orange kids hair and body wash. Our usual brand is one of Tesco's own and a firm favourite of mine, though I was willing to give this one a try too. This product is available in a 250ml tube and is priced at £2.99. The tube itself is rather attractively designed, having the Halos and Horns logo situated at the top. This logo depicts a face with a halo and one with horns on the 'o' of each word. The halo illustration is rather similar to that of Innocent Smoothies. At the centre of the tube is a further logo telling us that this product is for kids bathtime. The orange colour of this logo co-ordinates with the orange flip up lid and signifies the zingy orange scent. Halos and Horns hair and body wash contains plant-derived cleansing ingredients and natural conditioners. It is kind to eyes, is hypoallergenic and dermapaedic. The tube also states that this product does not contain SLS, phtalates, MIT, parabens, triclosan, propylene glycol or SLES; though I will not for a moment pretend to know exactly what those chemicals are and whether or not they would have any detrimental effect! To use this product, simply add a little to running bath water or add a small amount to your hands or a cleaning cloth or sponge. When sampling Halos and Horns I soon found that it did not quite meet my expectations as a hair and body wash. It does not lather as well as my usual brand and I therefore find myself using more than I usually would. In fact my tube is now almost empty after around two or three weeks. The smell is rather pleasant, though it is more reminiscent of orange sweets rather than that of fresh oranges. It is not overpowering and no scent is evident after bathing. This may be beneficial to some, however one of the reasons I love my usual brand so much is that I can smell it on my son's skin and in his hair for most of the day afterwards. The product rinses well and leaves my little boy's hair lovely and soft, though not to any degree better than any other brands I have sampled. In summary I do not feel that this product is worth its price tag. It is pleasant but has no particular factors that would make me want to buy it again. The tube is of an average size in comparison to other brands and does not last as long as I would like. This product would most likely be beneficial for babies and children who have sensitive skin or eczema, though my son has neither and I will undoubtedly opt for my usual choice next time.
Use it as a body wash or a shampoo.
