Advantages: Versatile combination of senitivity and durability
Disadvantages: As with any wipe, does not completely clean, plus baby likes to eat them!
I started using these wipes after my second baby was about six weeks old, and have not turned back since. I find them the perfect combination of durability and sensitivity.
Being a mum of two children a year apart in age, I wanted to find wipes that would be suitable for both a toddler and a baby, to save the hastle of carrying around two sets of wipes. With my first baby, I used Pampers wipes, but when my second was born, he had problems with sensitive skin. After cradle cap flaring up so bably that he had to take antibiotics, we didn't want to risk anything else irritating his skin, so when we moved from the cotton wool and water bottom washes at about 6 weeks, we had to use a skin sensitive baby wipe.
This is where we changed from pampers as the sensitive wipes didn't seem to clean my toddlers bottom without breaking up (understandable as they are aimed more for gentler wiping). I bought the Huggies Pure wipes as they were on a buy one get one free special offer in our supermarket, and the slogan on the packet claims, 'Gentle cleaning, like cotton wool & water.'This seemed ideal for our baby's sensitive skin so I thought I'd try them out.
They proved to be an ideal mix of being a gentle, unperfumed wipe for our little baby, and caused no irritation at all, and they also held together for our 13 month olds stodgier (best word I could think of, sorry!) nappies. So ever since then I have continued to buy these wipes.
The only criticism I would have on these is that after some very smelly nappies they clean the mess away, but the smell is still present until they have a wash or bath, but this is the same with any wipe I have tried.
The packs come in a range of sizes. To start off with I bought the refill packs, which were roughly £6 for two refill packs of 144 wipes each. These are perfect for the refill boxes (£2.49 with free wipes) which have a plastic seal with a slit in, ideal for dispensing the wipes. The refill boxes were absolutely brilliant for the first few months as I was changing nappies every hour sometimes, and they are just much easier to use, as they seal down so the wipes don't dry out. There is also a mini refill box which holds maybe 20 wipes at a time, and is ideal for handbags! I still carry one of these about with me most of the time.
I stopped breastfeeding when baby Alex was almost six months and so we started going out and about on longer trips. It soon worked out that it was easier to buy the travel packs of Huggies Pure wipes as they are much more portable. These can work out more expensive however, £2.49 for just a single pack of 72 wipes. It's best to look out for bogof deals or buy 4 packs for about £5.80, as this works out to be much better value. These packs are not quite so easy to use as there is a hole in the pack, not a flexible slit, and you have to be careful to make sure to seal the pack, else the wipes dry out, especially with the central heating on! Nonetheless, they are still very handy packs.
Out and about the wipes are ideal for nappy changes, but as they are unfragranced, they are also brilliant for wiping hands and face after meals out (my boy who's now 2 hates flowery smells when having his face wiped!).
Another thing, as they are quite absorbent, they can be used to mop up spilled drinks, and as a coincidental work of genius, they clean up piano keys without wearing the finish! Just a little bit of useless information!
Summary: Very useful wipe for all situations
