Advantages: Good price if on offer, gentle on skin, fragrance free

Disadvantages: Quite thick

I was running low on baby wipes so when I went into Tesco, I told myself to buy whatever was on offer so it would be quite cheap! I have never tried Huggies wipes before but since they were BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free), I grabbed 2 and put them in my basket. I had heard mixed reviews about them so I thought it would be interesting to try them out for myself.

When I got home, my son needed his nappy changing so I decided I would try out the new wipes. The first thing I noticed was how thick these wipes were compared to others I have tried which include Johnsons, Tescos and my favourite Pampers Sensitive wipes. They were not all that flexble as they were so thick, but they were nice and moist so it was easy to wipe up everything with them. I suppose a bonus to them being so thick is that there is no risk of anything leaking through them onto your hands! The wipes also have a teddy bear embossmentall over, which is a nice touch.

The wipes claim to be fragrance free, and these are the first wipes I have tried which really do not have any fragrance at all, it is odd to have baby wipe without a smell! But at least they actually live up to the claim on the packet. he packet also states that these are gentle cleaning, like cotton wool and water. Well I used cotton wool and water on Harry for the first few weeks since he was in Special Care in hospital, and these were similar. No smell, gentle on his skin, and left him soft. He has had no nappy rash from them, so I am quite pleased.

Huggies reasearch into healthy skin is backed up by the British Skin Foundation, which is nice to know as a mother, especially for those with very tiny newborn babies who have the most sensitive skin.

You get 72 wipes in the packet, which is more than some other wipes suich as Pampers which have 64 wipes in the packet. These retail at 2.49 pounds for one packet, but as I said earlier on, they are often on Buy One Get One Free so they work out to 1.25 pounds a packet, not bad really. I have these wipes in all supermarkets and chemists I have been into, so they are widely available.

The packet looks nothing like the one on Ciao, it is a scarlet red with a blue section where there is a picture of a baby. The name of the wipes, Huggies pure, is underneath this image, with the fact they are gentle cleaning in the bottom right corner. They are very eye-catching and nice designed, a good decision on Huggies part to choose such bright colours.

The wipes have a sealable strip on the top to the keep the moisture in, and I think it has worked well so far. They are stored in a concertina fashion so they come out easily one at a time, which is great if you have a wriggly baby! You can buy a tub t put the wipes in but I dont bother as they are easier to shove in your bag on their own!

Although I didnt initially like these wipes due to their thickness, I have warmed to them considerably. They really clean up Harry's bum very well, and he hasn't reacted to them at all. They really are gentle on skin, and are most definitely fragrance free. Good value for money as you get slightly more wipes in a packet than you do with other baby wipes.

Summary: Satisfactory wipes
